Thread about Athiests, there's a few topics like evolution that are forbidden on Catholic Answers because they tend to spawn huge arguments that the mods don't want to deal with.

Can't say I blame them to be honest, the last evolution thread I saw before the ban practically every other poster was proclaiming the last to post a heretic. Messy, but as many of their members are Bible Belt Republicans you can imagine how they feel about the issue.

Female veiling at the "Extraordinary Form" of Mass (that's the Trinadentine Latin Mass to you and me) is another big one that tends to ruffle feathers between "Novus Ordo" (New vernacular language mass attenders) and "Traditionalist" Catholics. It isn't quite like "Catholic women should wear Burkahs", but rather if they should cover their hair in the Church or not. Gets pulses racing though.

About two months ago, I called the president of Catholic Answers, Christopher Check, to discuss what was a long-standing ban on Atheist threads. I was connected to his personal assistant's voicemail instead.

HOWEVER, about a week later, she called me back and told me that the ban on atheist threads had been discussed and lifted. I announced that here in a thread that has been locked (and my OP deleted). (I understand why that happened, and I'm okay with it. I'm simply recounting what happened.)

So, you should have no problem at CAF in the Philosophy, Apologetics and Non-Catholic Religions subforums.

One more point, due to problems with spammers from India or somplace like that, new member registrations are only accepted M-F during normal business hours Pacific Time.

See ya there!

Yes, start new thread to announce other sites in your first 30/30 and I'm not surprised.

So my question is what would be permissible.  If I started a thread opining that there is no proof of god and defended that position, would it survive in the philosophy sub-forum? Have others done it. You see I asked the question not because I wanted to go try to deconvert a bunch of Christians, but because it is the Christians who really are on a conversion mission who get into trouble here. However, if that sort of thread is readily accepted there, it might be fun. Challenge is fun.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

It's a thread about atheism.

A Lutheran thread would be a thread about Lutheranism.

FWIW, I honestly thought the announcement would of interest to everyone here. CAF has thousands of members...I figured y'all would want to chat with an audience that size. Additionally, I enjoy apologetics as a hobby...and a lot of folks at CAF do, too. So, it never occurred to me that a forum like this one would exist to discuss Christianity amongst yourselves primarily and NOT with actual Christians.

But I think your thread would be okay now that the ban has been lifted. And Jenny, you have always be respectful in your tone, so I don't think you would run into problems as long as you did not attack Catholicism. Now, don't misunderstand...that are boatloads of Orthodox and Protestants and Baha'i and JW's there...and none of them agree with Catholicism...and they aren't banned.

I don't think you have much to worry about. You could always lurk for a bit until you get the feel for the place.

It will be interesting to see what response you get. I have never SEEN an atheist thread at CAF, so I have no idea how the crew that I know fairly well will respond. What I've had to learn is an entirely new set of objections and responses as well as some new vocabulary in my short time here. You'll catch many there as completely unprepared as I was (and still am for the most part) here.

There is no fucking evidence for any of the gods that the human mind has created.

Should be a short thread.
