Do you have the right to be an atheist?
#21
RE: Do you have the right to be an atheist?
Well fuck you then!

Just kidding, kidding! Welcome to the forum!

What the others said. Of those definitions of God that are coherent, I do not claim absolute knowledge that the corresponding beings do not exist (and no one can). That's not how the word Atheism is used by most people, including famous authors like Dawkins who would never claim absolute knowledge that there is no God, either.
The proposition is just unnecessary (see Laplace) very implausible and for most concrete notions of a personal God in use today, contradicted by evidence

Might I add that I don't quite understand what the word supernatural means any more. If there's a new phenomenon that is discovered, what is done regularly is that our concept of nature gets extended, not the phenomenon dubbed "supernatural" which is a meaningless label in my eyes.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

RE: Do you have the right to be an atheist?
OP, you are lowering the definition of a "god" if simply something as yet unexplained!
Maybe an invisible pink unicorn from another galaxy came here and did a glowing pink shit on the grass.

We cannot understand what it is or how it got here. Does that make it god!
By traditional explanations, gods are the entities which created us, the universe, etc (apparently by "blinking" things into existence)
They don't sound very technical, do they? When I say supernatural, I don't even mean modern alien technology, for that is "natural".
I mean, the stupid, illogical OT stuff!
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.

Well i tell you you're over-thinking about the definition of a "god".Think of it as merely a superior being.
I just don't see how a pink unicorn from another galaxy taking a dumb on my lawn is "Superior".
(Superior as in aspects we humans give actual importance to?)

Oh, come the fuck on.

90,000+ years of human existence without gods. No reaction. Dozens of religions, making contradictory claims with the same evidence: zero. No reaction. Dozens of holy books and sacred texts being changed, translated or forged. No reaction. If there is a god, he clearly doesn't give a shit if we believe or not.

Sigh. As long as a human being has to make a case for god, he is only becoming less convincing in my eyes. It only further confirms that it is a man made myth some primitive humans pulled out of their asses.

Well you really really are asking to be misunderstood then. You can't just use different definitions of words from everyone else's and expect that a sensible conversation can be had if you don't clarify first what you mean.

No one in their right mind will deny that it is plausible that *somewhere in the universe* there might be beings with capabilities superior to ours (the universe, as they say, is really big). That is not what is meant by being an atheist by anyone ever.

And why should a god, deserving of the title? Such a being would look at us the same way we're looking at an ant colony.

It's so obvious that all the gods man ever worshipped are human creations, complete with human temper, vices and vanities.

And human schlongs, not to put too fine a point on it.

I typed down "Atheist definition" onto google and i got this:
"a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods."

I typed down "god definition" onto google but i got religious definitions of god only but what i understood is this:
"the supreme being","a superhuman being".

Doesn't that make an superior alien race in some distant planet a "God"?
Like i said,we all believe in "God" we just don't know it yet.

Of course!
I could only worship a god who had a shlong like a donkey! (otherwise, I'd hand wrestle him and take the podium myself)

And that is why googling words like God and atheism, taking the first definition you find and then telling actual atheists what they allegedly believe, is a bad idea. The definition of God you have chosen is not useful and misleading.
