Who did you hang with?
#21
RE: Who did you hang with?
I hanged with some people in my town. Two brothers next door. Usually it was me hanging out with the older brother, and the younger hanging around us. Sometimes we'd get into a fight, and I'd go home, but he'd always come back in a day or two wanting to play something. There were older brothers down the road that I visited. My older sister was friends with the older brother, and I would hang out with the younger, but even the younger was years older than me. Eventually he got a job, and we didn't hang out so much.

There was one weird kid I met at youth night who was homeschooled. Sometimes he'd come and say he had ten minutes to hang out, which really meant he snuck away when he wasn't supposed to. He and another guy that liked to say "cool, cool, very cool" would play war with me on his parent's land, which had a variety of different spots that made playing war interesting. Unfortunately we never bought paintball guns. He would bring the camo, and I had some lang ranged walkie talkies. There was also this military guy in town that we'd go to for advice. he didn't play with us, but I think he enjoyed talking about stuff with us. The weird kid eventually joined the military.

Those were my close friends. There were other people I hanged out with on occasion. Including one id I wasn't allowed to be around, and finally got my parents to admit it was because his brother did drugs. They were afraid I'd start doing stuff if I spent too much time around them. In highschool itself I never bothered making friends. My regular friends didn't go to that school, and I knew in four years I'd likely never see any classmate again. Though there was one cute girl that I had a crush on. She was friendly, but she was that way with every boy in school. She didn't get pregnant, though, so I believed her when she said she wasn't having sex. I got up the nerve to ask her to let me touch her boobs once, but she said no.

I think that may be one of the reason highschool sucked for me. I never really tried making friends to ease the stress of school life. Just friendly girl, and a guy who liked Animorphs as much as I did back then.

I hung out with the troublemakers as I was one myself. I was constantly in trouble because following the rules didn't work for me.

That sounds like a lot of fun. i'd never have the balls to ask a girl for a boob touch, did she say "no" , "NO" or "WTF NO" ?

I was one of the freaks, the outcasts, the wierdos, the lunatics.
Wouldn't have it any other way. Normal is vastly overrated. I still meet up with a few of my mates from school, but really, we moved on for the most part. A shame, but I'll always have the memories of our awesome little group Smile

RE: Who did you hang with?
I always had trouble fitting in when I was at school, no matter who I hung out with. My first group of friends were mainly nerds and geeks. We played Warhammer and stuff like that and they were nerdy know-it-alls (and atheists... I was a still a Christian then and fought a losing battle with them on that score). Then later I started hanging around with the cool kids at the park. They spent all their time outside getting into trouble and were always drinking and getting stoned. But I was shy, awkward, naive, clueless, and way too trusting so I was really only part of their group to be taken advantage of in various ways or to be the (I guess on some level, willing) butt of jokes. Then when I came out, at age fifteen, it was even harder to fit in because of the homophobia. I was only physically attacked twice to my memory, but it wasn't that bad because both times I came away unscathed thinking 'is that all you got?' about my cowardly attackers who both times took me unawares, once hitting me in the back, and once hiding behind a wall and jumping me on my way home from school. So I wasn't really bullied per se but I was ostracised at times; having to spend a lot of the time sitting alone in a classroom at break times listening to my Walkman. Then there were the girls who just wanted a 'token' gay friend. It was clear they didn't really like me but it was like a status symbol to be able to say they had a gay friend. But all this said, I had some good times, and I wouldn't change my school experience for the world.

I was much a nerd in HS. I never cared to be popular, nor was a follower. I never done drugs, and I do not drink. I think some days my job will drive me to drinking, but I just laugh about the situation afterwards.

It was just a calm "no". This was a girl that would sit in your lap during lunch hour. No lap dances, or anything, but she had almost no personal space when it came to guys. Except apparently her boobs. And her lower privates, I would assume.

RE: Who did you hang with?
In the late 90's/early aughts, I was in a bunch of cliques. I was class VP, so I hung with the popular kids, I hung with the nerdy kids and the jocks as well. The only group I avoided were the goths, because for some reason my brain connected them with white supremacists, even though there were a couple of black goths in the group. I was always like "but aren't you afraid, tho?"

I had some theater friends, some A/V club friends, and some weirdo friends. (that's because my best friend from middle school turned out to be a weirdo. He ended up stalking a girl in college and having a major meltdown...)

All in all, I liked everyone. I probably missed out on some cool goth friendships, though.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
