Artificial Intelligence
Do you think humanity will ever produce artificial general intelligence? Do you think such an intelligence would be able to advance at an unimaginable rate, past a certain point? Would it solve all of our problems? Would it transform our world, as we know it, forever? Or would it be the end of us?

Yes, no, no, maybe, no.

Glad you answered like this. I love you!
But please try form a better response if you have an opinion about this. Not everyone will bother to read what I wrote about this and we don't want to set a bad example, do we?

I'm so sorry I didn't give you the answers you were expecting.  Here, I'll try again:

Probably yes, definitely no, positively no, likely maybe, certainly no.

Thank you ever so much for correcting me.  Please stick around the forum for as long as you can, so I'll have such a valued teacher to instruct me how to respond to other posts.  I can't begin to tell you how much I value your assistance in the matter (seriously - I can't even begin).

Do w/e you like but people will just read noes and yeses, not your actual opinion on things. I don't think you want that.

Anyway, I did check what you said, and I recommend you readSuperintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies.

You should've added an option "both". There is AI at the moment but you can't have a decent conversation with it, especially if your mobile internet is down. I'm talking about the speaking smartphones that were recently released on the market. And there's also the AI in some cars which can drive the car and park it for you. It's still in testing stage but some day it will be released for public usage. There's the AI which a hand full of planes have and for this they can take off and land on their own.
I suppose AI could reach the level of intelligence a human being has or even further but there's a lot of time until that happens.

It would surprise me if I didn't see -at least- the beginnings of AI in my own lifetime.  It would be able to advance faster than biological intelligence did, but there's no real garauntee as to the rate beyond saying that it would be -capable- of advancing quicker than biologically gated systems.  On to the last bits, about solving all of our problems, transforming our worlds, endings us and such......  Insomuch as it would be a world with AI in it, sure, the world would be changed, but...are we expecting AI to do what our current intelligence has not on any of those other counts?  Why?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: Artificial Intelligence
AI isn't the only field of advancement. With advances in AI it is being used to augment our lifestyle as well as ourselves. By the time AI reaches the same level as the current us, I wonder if the purely biological humans as we know today would still exist?
