Fact, every single german nazi was a christian

Fact, every single german nazi was a christian
This was actually a post from another forum and my response to it. I hope its acceptable to repost it here as I feel that there is a serious issue here that all atheists should be addressing because christian's from revisionist historians down to the grass roots individuals always claim that hitler and every other tyrant in history was an atheist, and the truth is the exact opposite, hitler was in fact a devout catholic and was even raised in a catholic monastery, and every single nazi was a christian, because they were required to be christian to join the nazi party.

Oh yeah, Hitler really loved Christianity. LOL! http://en.wikipedia....of_the_Churches

Sounds to me as thought the OP has the same sentiments towards Christianity that Hitler had. LOL!

LYING BIGOT!

Hitler was a christian and in fact a devout catholic, He was even raised in a catholic monastery! That was non-factual christian propaganda. Every single quote in that article was by a british historian named Alan Louis Charles Bullock, or Baron Bullock and he was specifically obfuscating the truth in order hide the facts.

The fact is that in addition to Jewish people, Hitler put Homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Atheists, and even gypsies into concentration camps, all were people openly and publicly hated by the catholic church at that time.

Here's a list of verifiable quotes that proves that not only were the Nazi's christian, but that christianity was the sole guide and motive for the Nazi atrocities.

Quote
"I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so."
Adolf Hitler, to Gen. Gerhard Engel, 1941

"I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator."
Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, p. 46

"I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Almighty Creator. By fighting the Jews, I am doing the Lord's work."
Adolf Hitler, ibid. p. 65

"This human world of ours would be inconceivable without the practical existence of a religious belief."
Adolf Hitler, ibid. p 152

"Thus inwardly armed with confidence in God and the unshakable stupidity of the voting citizenry, the politicians can begin the fight for the 'remaking' of the Reich as they call it."
Adolf Hitler, ibid. Vol. 2 Chapter 1

"The National Government will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life."
Adolf Hitler, Berlin, 1933, first radio address after coming to power.

"The national Government sees in both Christian denominations the most important factor for the maintenance of our society."
Adolf Hitler, speech at the Reichstag, March 1933

"Secular schools can never be tolerated because such a school has no religious instruction and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith ... We need believing people."
Adolf Hitler, April 1933, from a speech made during negotiations leading to the Nazi-Vatican Concordat of 1933

"The fact that the Catholic Church has come to an agreement with Fascist Italy ... proves beyond doubt that the Fascist world of ideas is closer to Christianity than those of Jewish liberalism or even atheistic Marxism..."
Adolf Hitler in an article in the Völkischer Beobachter, 1929

"I am personally convinced of the great power and deep significance of Christianity, and I won't allow any other religion to be promoted."
Adolf Hitler

"Today Christians ... stand at the head of [this country]... I pledge that I never will tie myself to parties who want to destroy Christianity .. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit ... We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theater, and in the press - in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of liberal excess during the past ... (few) years."
Adolf Hitler, quoted in: The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, 1922-1939, Vol. 1

"We were convinced that the people need and require this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations; we have stamped it out."
Adolf Hitler, speech on October 24, 1933

"As for the Jews, I am just carrying on with the same policy which the Catholic Church has adopted for fifteen hundred years, when it has regarded the Jews as dangerous and pushed them into ghettos etc., because it knew what the Jews were like. I don't put race above religion, but I do see the danger in the representatives of this race for Church and State, and perhaps I am doing Christianity a great service."
Adolf Hitler, 1936, to Bishop Berning and Msg. Steinman, representatives of Pope Pius XI

"The work that Christ started but could not finish, I Adolf Hitler will conclude."
Adolf Hitler, December 1926.

Note that Adolf Hitler was never excommunicated or in any other way officially censured by the Catholic Church. The only high-ranking Catholic Nazi to be excommunicated was Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels because he married a divorced Protestant woman.

"The party, as such, stands for positive Christianity, without, however, allying itself to any particular denomination."
Article 24, Program of the National Socialist German Workers (Nazi) Party

"I swear by God this sacred oath that I shall render unconditional obedience to Adolf Hitler, the Leader of the German empire, supreme commander of the armed forces, and that I shall at all times be prepared, as a brave soldier, to give my life for this oath."
German WWII Military Oath

"Our religion is Christ, our politics Fatherland!"
slogan of Hans Schemm, Bavarian Minister of Education and Culture during the Third Reich

Now here's a list of quotes that prove Christians share the Nazi ideology.

Quote
"... we must drive them [Jews] out like mad dogs, so that we do not become partakers of their abominable blasphemy and all the their other vices and thus merit God's wrath and be damned with them."
Martin Luther, "On the Jews and Their Lies", 1543

"Kill them all. God will select those who should go to heaven and those who should go to hell."
Abbot Arnold de Citeaux, 1205 (during the Fourth Crusade)

"Kill them all, for God knows His own."
Pope Innocent III, to his troops in the Albigensian Crusade of 1209

"How did [the Holocaust] happen? Because God allowed it to happen. Why did it happen? Because God said, 'My top priority for the Jewish people is to get them to come back to the land of Israel.' "
John Hagee

"With all due respect to those dear people, my friend, God almighty does not hear the prayer of a Jew."
Rev. Bailey Smith, Christian Coalition

"Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East. The biblical prophecies are being fulfilled. This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his peoples enemies before a New Age begins."
President George W. Bush, to French President Jacques Chirac in early 2003

"When we get through with the Jews in America, theyll think the treatment they received in Germany was nothing."
Catholic priest and US radio host Charles Edward Coughlin, 1938

Guidelines for banned books in Nazi Germany:
* Writings of a philosophical and social nature whose content deals with the false scientific enlightenment of primitive Darwinism and Monism (Häckel).
* All writings that ridicule, belittle or besmirch the Christian religion and its institution, faith in God, or other things that are holy to the healthy sentiments of the Volk.

Now years later and in the years since, the federal government has not required the facts be taught, but rather has taught in public schools the false propaganda that not only was Hitler not a christian, but that he persecuted christians, and that atheism is to blame, the complete and exact opposite of the truth.

In doing so this government made up of christian officials, working for christians, and elected by christians, has not only made itself complicit with the atrocities after the fact by obscuring the true motives, they have left the stage set for religious bigots representing the same religion to commit the same atrocities again in the exact same way. by points at their intended victims and swearing that they are every bad thing in the world, just as the religion has always done, and just as they taught the Nazi's to do.

Wow, that's simplistic to use a friendly word - and only based on some select quotes. For starters it doesn't take into account how the party changed over the years. The program has been written in 1920. It also doesn't take into account how figures like Rosenberg, Himmler and Hitler himself defined themselves.

I take offense with that kind of simplistic views, since it's as stupid as theists saying that Communism was an atheist movement.

Communism is an atheist movement, in the sense that it supports no religions.  I guess you could say a non-theist movement.  However, the Nazis were very clear about their religious affiliation, they wore it on their sleeves (or on their belts, to be more accurate).

There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.

I think whatever Nazi Germany was, Christian or non-Christian, it was certainly religious and theocratic. It was a political system so rigorous that it was like a religion, with Hitler basically being worshipped as above human and infallible. It's the exact same with the Stalinist and Maoist regimes, they were not "atheist" states because the leaders were revered through propaganda as basically gods. You could say nothing about them that was negative or you'd be punished like a blasphemer in Saudi Arabia would be. Same with North Korea, I could go on.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

The word you're looking for is "secular", not atheist.

Yeah, afraid so.

Don't get us wrong, Hitler was a bad guy and he did use Catholosism in general as a tool to manipulate the gullible sheep that was the general population. That is a far cry from Nazi = Catholic though. It's important that we never use logical fallacies to demonize those in opposition to us for at least two reasons:

1. You can't use an opponent's logical fallacy to destroy his/her argument if you're using the same fallacy, right?

2. We need to be better than our opponents. That's how we will win respect. We need to be honest in all of our arguments if we are to take the high ground. Bringing someone over to our side with a lie is counter-productive. They will discover the lie in the long run and resent us more than they did from the start.

We do not need to resort to bad arguments. Truth is our ally. Sticking with the truth will make us victorious in the end. If we get there any other way, we are no better than our opponents and will not deserve our victory.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

You know the origin of that? It origins in 1701 and was the motto of the Prussian kings. It's Prussian and not even German tradition. They never changed it up to 1945. The SS wore a different slogan on their belt buckles. It was practically the same wording the US marines use. "Meine Ehre heißt Treue". Which roughly translates into Being faithful is my honor - or "semper fi". So no god there.

Everyone believing that the Nazis were a christian movement should educate themselves on the diverse standpoints of all the different NS organisations. The SS, lead by Heinrich Himmler, was deist (Gottgläubig). That was the official position. The matter is very complex, since the Nazis were supported by various church organisations, catholic as well as protestant. But the leading figures weren't affiliated with any denomination. Hitler stayed Catholic, but reading the stenographic accounts of his dinner conversations (various books have been written on them) he wasn't a friend of the Catholic church. He wasn't an atheist, but he also was a deist. According to his own words and conversations. His secretary Martin Bormann wanted to abolish the churches, but Hitler was opposed to that idea - during wartime and for political reasons. After the "Endsieg" he would have gone along with Bormann's ideas - again, according to his own words. For reference, see "hitlers tischgespräche im führerhauptquartier", edited by Henry Picker, who was on duty at the "Wolfschanze" and wrote them down himself with Hitler's permission.

There were various atheists, such as Alfred Rosenberg. There were totally areligious persons, such as Josef Goebbels. For reference read his diaries. He was a professional cynic above all else.

So, again. The OP is nothing but a cardboard description of a very complex matter.
