One might think that, but I think the person in power to pull off such a coup would benefit more from keeping him in power. The populace really does see him as a divine figure, so simply killing him and taking over might mean losing the people. North Korea has been able to continue in its current state due to the people being brainwashed into submission. Assassinating their divine leader might just be the spark to get them to rise up.

One thing ol' Kimmy does have is creativity, if the rumors of his execution styles are true that is. Killing a man with anti-aircraft fire is certainly going to make a statement.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Something about his photo here makes me think he is about to begin a porn shoot. He must be giving his general pointers on sexual positions and that is why they are taking notes. It is a large image so I put it in a spoiler tag.

Captain's Rog: I have to write in journal for picture again.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Haha Yeah, I was thinking about changing all of the occurrences, but I decided to only go with #casualracist

That's just razy lacism...

Took me a second to get it, I thought he was talking about a captain named Roger at first.

I think the attention is less due to his personal eccentricities and more the fact that a) they're a nuclear threat, unlike most malign dictatorships, and b) North Korea is a fascinating, unique social experiment. A whole country in which most people are genuinely believing members of a creepy, destructive cult. They literally think that family are gods. Now I don't know what a real god would look like, but how brainwashed would you have to be to believe it would be like that guy!? Big Grin

Even people who've escaped, have required years of de-programming in order to shake their belief that he can read their minds from afar and therefore will know where they are and could still send people after them.

In the past, many dictators were worshipped as gods, most famously in ancient Egypt and Rome. To see that alien concept in action today is what makes North Korea more interesting than your average hellhole country.
"Faith is a state of openness or trust. To have faith is like when you trust yourself to the water. You don't grab hold of the water when you swim, because if you do you will become stiff and tight in the water, and sink. You have to relax, and the attitude of faith is the very opposite of clinging, and holding on. In other words, a person who is fanatic in matters of religion, and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe becomes a person who has no faith at all. Instead they are holding tight. But the attitude of faith is to let go, and become open to truth, whatever it might turn out to be."

I think you're just trying to find an excuse to disagree with me. I pretty much said exactly that it's because of b), and that he is an eccentric person stems entirely from that. So does in many ways the fact that NK is a 'nuclear threat'.

When I talked specifically about his eccentric ways, or what is more to the point, NK's eccentric ways, I'm more just talking about how our own media likes to report on the guy. Which is pretty self-evident.

I see his eccentricity and the unique social situation taking place in North Korea as quite different things. The former would be a shallow reason for them to get disproportionate media attention, but the latter is not, in my opinion. Most brutal dictators are very eccentric and comedians love it when they're in the news. But if you were trying to refer more broadly to that social situation than to just his own quirks, we don't disagree.
