Humans are a relatively new ,and I think temporary species. In my opinion we are not as successful as we like to think.

My idea of successful species includes most insects, crocodiles and sharks. I think being dependent on technology to adapt to the environment is a fatal flaw against long term survival.

Humans seem to be the only species who foul their own nest to the extent of making it uninhabitable. It's possible we will be be will become extinct through our own arrogance and stupidity.

Probably the most humbling documentary I've ever seen is "Life After People' which showed just how quickly the planet will obliterate all traces of us.The time scale is a few thousand years. In geological time, that's barely measurable.
