The Cold Dead Grip of the Past Grabs Your Vorlon

RE: The Cold Dead Grip of the Past Grabs Your Vorlon
Well, obviously, your problem is that you did not move halfway across the country after high school.  One tends to avoid former classmates (and other people one knew then) that way.  I say, better late than never, so you should move a thousand miles or so away.  San Francisco is a pretty cool place, with a vibrant gay community.  Why are you not there instead of where you are?  I am straight, and I would not mind living in San Francisco.  Go now!

You should definitely explore this.  Perhaps you are a closeted hetero?  Hate to think of you not accepting yourself.

Nice try, but no.

What do you think you need to make and amend for? PM if you'd like.

My disinterest with dating her best friend led to some teenage drama.  I wasn't terribly nice in our last communication.

As for the amend, my 4th step (the weird beastie it is apparently compared to most others) deemed most everything that occurred prior to my turning 18 as mostly immune to 8th and 9th step issues lest I deemed otherwise.

As for the drama, it was a letter to her, one I hope she has lost track of.  I don't have the clearest recollection of it, but I'm sure I characterized her as irrational, stupid and way too emotional.  Like I wasn't at the time.  I'm sure I wasn't very nice, I didn't hear from any of the 3 of them for 40 years.

I'm also thinking my reaction to her yesterday "So this is what became of you" wasn't something she wanted to hear either.

No matter what has happened to her in the interim, and by her looks, quite a bit indeed, she doesn't need to be around me.  I don't intend for the term 'fag hag' to be a slur this occasion, but that would be the best extent of any association in my orbit she could hope for these days.

Her high school best friend certainly escaped a dreadful experience, I've always considered gay men that deliberately married (women, thank you SCOTUS) for convenience or camouflage to be exceptionally loathsome.  That I might have been merely dating to 'make a statement' doesn't reflect well on me.

I had something similar last time I was in Sydney. A chick I went to school with, who was THE hottie in the school, and a casual friend, saw me walking down the street.

She was "plump" (extremely so) and had three screaming kids in tow.

I last saw her only 10 years ago and I barely recognised her.

I've noticed over the years (slowly) how poorly socialized I am with women.  (Especially if there are men around)  Women who try to bat their eyelashes in an attempt to get me to do something they want are severely taxed by my inertness and non observance of their attempts.

I find it funny, it's a little look for me into how hetero men and hetero women interact subconsciously, and how much effort it would take for me to duplicate that behavior would be large and synthetic.

When I was a volunteer for the HIV buddy program, one of my assignments was a 'working' woman.  She appreciated my help, but she made it clear that my gayness was profoundly obvious to her just by my lack of response to all those cues and signs things that women do.   She otta know, she made her living at it.

And for me to be friends with her would require an open and upfront talk about all things gay.  I'm pushing 60, I'm not wanting a 'project' like this.

Damn, am I a segregationist ??

I agree. Any man or woman who has a daughter should be grateful for acceptance of homosexuality. Every girl deserves a boy who likes girls. I see no upside to gays marrying women. He's unhappy, she will be eventually. It's deception that helps no one.

I get probably the same funny feeling when you talk about it. It's like a look into how someone can be not attracted to women. It tickles.
