Bad books can be good for that. I hope to read your book. Are going English lit or German?
Shit someone already asked. Your writing skills on here seem adequate enough. Though my 2 cents is for a physics/ sci you don't want fancy stuff anyway. Nice simple and clear cut, like a Isaac Asimov or frank Herbert book. I want a copy when your done.

See above. The problem is that there is one nonfic in production,one in the last stage of CE, and one half done, and before that is all completed I can't even touch this though I'd love to, or editor will go to kill mode...

Since I've only ever published technical and non fiction literature I don't feel entitled to give out advice for aspiring writers. But how about that: obtain Frey's "How to write a damn good novel" 1+2 and read them. It's entertaining most of the time and self conscious enough that he points out the limitations and problems with his advice. Other than that: write, write, write. What do you want to write?
