I just tried going on to the chatrooms after hearing out about the hangman, but it turned out that somehow, my nickname was "invalid" somehow. Can somebody rectify or at least explain this?

It's most likely the period. It's an IRC chat, so having a period in your nick would probably make it 'invalid'. Try changing it to Rev_Rye, like that.

I've added another filter to remove the periods. It should work now. Does anyone know the full list of illegal characters for IRC?
