To confuse the creatards.

wait we have to try to confuse them? i thought astro-physics was confusing enough.

Yes, the very evolved ningnongs on those old planets also believe they are Gods one true creation!

God's such a worship slut! He goes around telling every planet that he made the universe just for them and that they are very special!
No God, No fear.

Or evidence that more of the foundations of galaxies and other large scale structures in the universe were direct outgrowth of the Big Bang, rather than product of subsequent, time consuming development.

That sounds almost like the behavior of some creepy fratboy sexual predator.

"No, baby, you're the one who's special to me... here, drink this..."
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

MORE evidence? I thought the 13.7 billion year figure was pretty solid.

When I was a kid, the oft-quoted figure was 10-20 billion years. By the time I was a young adult, it had been narrowed to 10-15 billion years. When they came out with the study showing 13.7 billion years, I was impressed that they had the confidence to quote it down to a 100 million-year window. It would be pretty embarrassing if it were found to be substantially off that.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Still not as far off as the 6000 years creatards believe.

No, it wouldn't be. It is a step on the journey of discovery. We know why we thought it was 13.7 billion years old. If we found we were wrong, we would also know why the reason we thought it was 13.7 billion years old were not good enough.

The only time when being wrong is ambarassing is when one stake one's reputation on having the received truth. But thinking one has received truth is synonymous with being wrong.

These observations are difficult.  A recent technique is to find a massive galaxy directly between us and a potential object VERY far away.  If the geometry is just right, the intermediate galaxy will amplify and magnify the distant object enough for us to study it.  The technique can magnify by a factor of 10X to 20X.

Statistics indicate the number of times this technique can be used will be small, unfortunately.  If we want to look at more galaxies like this we will need a bigger boat telescope.
