Are Spaniards white?

So I have been wondering lately if porteguese and Spanish people are actually considered by some to be white. Now i've met people from both countries and they look pretty dark. But when I read some modern pc writings on history they blame alot of this this kind of racist dynamic white and brown people. I wonna know how this works because alot of the atrocities they blame on western Europe was a result of the porteguese and Spanish. How does this dynamic work without automatically categorizing them as white "dominant" race.

White is usually just a synonym for Western European in such respects.

White we have a sliding scale of "whiteness" with Spaniards at one end and Scots at the other.
Scots are roughly as sun worshipping as Nosferatu due their climate.

I think that serves. It fits because people of Spanish descent are said to be Latinos.

My oldest friend (we just had our 28th anniversary) is a Spaniard, and unless he has a tan, he's whiter than me... and I'm pretty much as white as they get (except for some Black Irish roots). His wife, also a Spaniard, is blonde, blue-eyed and very fair. I'm with Vic: it's hard to define "white". Also, I think race is, at least at this point in history and in our scientific knowledge, a ridiculous concept.

To be clear I hate viewing history through the lens of race, as we are all human and one race doesn't seem to be any better then the other. Some cultures are better yes, but it has nothing to do with race, rather societal conditions that range from a complex set of factors that allow thinkers to eventually change a culture for the better.

Race is a very shaky concept. From what I gather it's mainly physical appearance. It's pretty ill defined, and not very scientific-completely pointless in taxonomy. Ethnicity is more accurate, as it takes into account culture and group history.
