Unfortunately some protestants think freedom of religion means freedom to choose which denomination of christianity you want. Not other religions, and certainly not atheism.

Why would you want a muslim to be President of the USA? As Carson said, it's incompatible with American culture. Now it's true that the Christians haven't been worth a damn but if it gets to the point that an avowed muslim is elected then the Christian and atheist population is running on fumes.
BTW, Sanders is a Jew so he isn't going to make it either. 
A candidate's religion absolutely should not matter. In fact the constitution establishes there be no religious test. A candidates religion does not matter. He can be Christian or Muslim, as long as he governs like he's neither.
Some people suggest that Islam is more likely to produce people with Radical Ideas who wish to oppress. I say the Christian religion is just as likely.  
The more I read of Sanders, the more I like him...

Can you really blame Ben Carson for saying that, though? He has hitched his saddle to the Republican party nomination, and saying that he was okay with a Muslim president would basically end his campaign.
As for a Muslim president, I'm not so sure I'm too keen on that, but I'm not too keen on Christians having the codes to the nuclear weapons, either. I personally prefer that the people in charge of missles capable of massive death don't have imaginary friends.

Bern baby bern! I like this guy. Though I have to admit it's a sad day when of all the women and poc running the only one truly fighting for equality is the old white guy in the off the rack suit!
