Ho Hum Another campus shooting.

RE: Ho Hum Another campus shooting.
I really hate to be the arsehole but the whole world except the US knows that there is only one gun reform which actually works and saves lives.
I 'll copypasta this again in a couple of weeks when the next "crazy" wants his 15 minutes.

We are allegedly a "developed country."  What is your goal?  To be like Somalia?

Given the current state of our government, I would say we are well on our way. Remove guns from the hands of citizens to protect against the government and we'll be on the fast track to joining the third world for the average citizen with a police state that would put Russia to shame.

But guns are gooooooood, don't you know. At least that is what the NRA would have us still believe.

When was the last time you needed to do that? Isn't that a bit like waiting for rapture? There are all sorts of indoctrinations which can cloud the mind, other than the religious sort.
The culture needs to change at a generational level. It is wat overdue imho.

Indeed, when was the last time anyone needed a gun to protect himself from government takeover?

Besides, if the government wanted to get you, your small arms would not do shit against them.

And anyone who thinks that the reason the government is not enacting a takeover is because citizens can own guns, do I have news for your paranoid conspiracy ass. The government could take you down if it wanted, and it would not have to take your guns away first in order to do it.

So stop being being a fucking ignorant gun fondler.

RE: Ho Hum Another campus shooting.
I don't own any guns and I don't allow them in my personal home. Statistically speaking though, I am more likely to be killed in a car crash than by a gun. I still get in a car all the time without fear, why should I fear guns when they are less likely to cause me harm or death than something I use almost every day? What I do appreciate, unlike most Americans, is living in a freer country than most of the world, but my freedoms are being systematically removed by my government. The right to bear arms is an easy one to take away because it's so simple to stir the pot and tug on heartstrings. I don't argue the government could take me, as an individual down no problem (not that they have any reason to, I follow the law), but they wouldn't be able to take down the whole country should the government do something so egregious as to create that kind of scenario. Unless of course the majority were a bunch of passive, brain dead zombies glued to their phone 24/7 gobbling up everything the media tells them Thinking . We already have a budding police state, let's just lie down and make it easy for them why don't we? Shall we also hand over our freedom of speech and right to peacefully assemble while we're at it to make it easier for them? Revoking the right to own a gun is just the first step. After disarming the country and desensitizing them to rights removal, it'll be easy to remove freedom of religion next (hello Christian nation!), freedom of speech, right to peacefully assemble and finally just junk the whole thing and give the government complete control.

Let's also not forget (unlike the UK and AU) we border a crime-ridden country full of unregulated guns that is in close proximity to several other crime ridden countries full of unregulated guns. We have no border protection to speak of and we already know lots of illegal things flow back and forth over said boarder since it's so easy and lucrative to traffic black market goods. We will still have a gun problem, just an illegal gun problem. Finally, we have STILL not addressed the core issue of WHY people kill with guns. You can take away the ability for them to legally purchase guns, but someone so damaged, unstable and deranged they would shoot up a school will still commit horrible acts of violence utilizing the next easiest weapon (because nuts have never built explosives before). I really don't want deranged, aggressive individuals wandering around whether or not they have guns. And I don't think the media turning these loonies into some kind of martyr/hero when they go out in a blaze of glory for other loonies to draw encouragement from is helpful either.

Wouldn't sensible regulations make more sense? You know, raising the legal age to own a gun, mandatory training, insurance, yearly re-liscensing and mandatory psych exams? Oh and to do something about keeping dangerous individuals away from the rest of us (and try to rehabilitate them).

Of course logical regulations make more sense, and that is what we are asking.

But do you know what gun freaks hear instead?

They only hear a conspiracy to take their guns away.

Fucking retards.

Do not get me wrong, I would not mind seeing guns removed from the public citizenry. However, I would settle for regulations that did not allow any numbskull to purchase a gun in order to go on a killing spree.

Maybe that's what YOUR asking, but plenty of people are calling for people to just turn in their guns and to take away the right of any American (civilian) citizen to own a gun period. I do not agree with that and won't be swayed. I do fully support sensible regulation though because it is far too easy to obtain a gun legally as-is.

Well, it's not really a "conspiracy", as a lot of people actually DO want to take all guns away no questions asked. They've very clear about their intentions and vocal about their support of a gun free America. Many gun nuts also view sensible regulations in which law-abiding, mentally stable, responsible individuals can own guns legally as ALSO wanting to take their guns away because theres not a chance in hell they, as an individual, could meet the requirements thus will get their guns taken away (rightfully so).

You need to add regulation of person to person transfers, including inheritance. It could work similar to automobile title transfers, but in this case the buyer would still be compelled to meet the aforementioned ownership criteria.

(The US is at the end, blue is number of people who own guns legally vs how many die)

This is an absurd metric. It's also hypocritical if it comes from a source that supports the idea that guns don't kill people, people do.

This is a more meaningful look at what's being discussed; strictly addresses homicides.

Edit: The number of guns is irrelevant. As you've stated elsewhere, a reasonable solution is to clamp down on the ease of access.
