He and Rob are NOT kind guys. Haven't y'all been paying attention? We are atheists and so we have no morals.

Maths degrees but no reading comprehension, I swear!

Heheheh. Tongue
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Oh yeah! Since I don't believe I'm being watched by some ethereal being whose opinion is really important for some reason, there's no point doing anything. So I guess I can't have studied for 3 years just to get a piece of paper. I would have spent those years murdering everyone because I have no basis for morality. I must be damn good at hiding bodies.

And a bit, but not entirely selfless - as with my thread on particle physics, explaining things is my hobby, and as a science communicator and aspiring (popular) science writer, I clearly profit in some way from every instance explaining something to someone. It always brings new insights into what is a useful explanation or analogy for different types of people. Also, I'm temporarily a stay at home dad since two days ago and have a bit of time on my hands for writing and doing these things Smile

I didn't know that, about you.  Do you have anything yet published, if I may ask?  Or, do you have a website or YouTube channel, or anything like that?  I wish you all the best with your writing aspirations!

So far only my scientific papers and phd thesis. But the first shorter popular science work is being produced right now, and a full length textbook is in the last stage of corrections. A pop sci book on general relativity is supposed to follow next year. Unfortunately, while the scientific stuff is in English, the pop sci stuff so far is German only, although I intend to do translations.

RE: Problems in school
Anyways, back on topic - when tutoring students at uni, I noticed that a big factor for success is having a network of friends or colleagues to work, discuss and compare notes with. Do you have some ppl in your class who you think would be good partners for studying?
