When I was taking photography, it was always a pet peeve of mine when people never took the wide angle lens off their camera and literally every photo was a wide-angle shot. Not that it doesn't have it's place, but it was as if they couldn't capture a good shot and were grasping at straws to make an otherwise shitty subject matter look interesting (as opposed to putting in the time to look for more interesting things than whatever they had laying around the house/view from their backyard.

Yeah i had a film class and i was like we don't need a wide angled lenses. I pretty much said you know what go ahead use it.
I mean wide angled lenses i can be used to film and do great photography but when abused it is annoying

As someone who just spent good money on one, I would like to register protest Smile
They are however not easy to handle in scenarios with lots of straight lines where the distortion of perspective is immediately visible. And they are not for closeups... that's just gimmicky.

I take issue with the wide angled lenses when people want to shove there face in front of the camera.

This is good

This is bad

I still think the dog picture is problematic. A wide angle lens should be used to capture wide panoramas, not to make things look funny...
