HELPPPPP Blue screen error just now!!!
RE: HELPPPPP Blue screen error just now!!!
You know, a windows7 update may also have caused this.
Good chance that overwriting with the del driver may fix it.

What I'll do is I'll see if that driver I uninstalled has already fixed it, don't wanna do more than is necessary - like Jor basically said - and if I get a BSOD 1 more time I'll install #3 on that list, that driver... and then I'll also run the #1 diagnostic tool.

Now goodnight all, it's 4:45 A.M here. Goodnight

You said you can't have your computer running all night because of the electricity usage so I figured you could use a program that puts your laptop into "hibernate mode" after a set amount of time so you can see the results of memtest whenever you turn it on again.

You can download a program that does that here: http://download.cnet.com/TimeComX-Basic/...09359.html

Under Event select Simple Counter and then set the timer to 45 minutes. Under Task select Hibernate and then just run memtest first and press the green arrow at the bottom to start the timer.

Your laptop won't use any electricity while it's hibernating: http://www.howtogeek.com/102897/whats-th...n-windows/

Several months ago I tried to update with Service Pack 2 and it wouldn't 'take', and it was a big waste of time and I was annoyed and I had to put up with increasingly wonky laptop performance and I finally tried to load it again, figuring it was not going to work, but this time it did, and then it's done several updates and the goddam thing is working way better than it did and I'm grudgingly getting a little bit happy about it.

In my experience the most common cause of bluescreens is a damaged/faulty RAM stick. I don't know if you already tried this but you should run the program Memtest86 (http://www.memtest.org/) to see if your RAM is ok.

Yes ditto. The best way to test it is to open your system and remove 1 ram stick and see if it runs without a BSOD, and then put the stick back and repeat for the remaining sticks of ram (usually there are 2, but could be 3-4).

Note that you disconnect any power to the system (including a laptop battery) before opening it. Modern hardware is quite tolerable of static, however static is an issue so wear cotton or other non-synthetics when you handle the open system to reduce static.

Hope that helps.
