Then what's with the whole coming to earth to be murdered to save us from the way he made us? Why was that even necessary?
Coz that's how the flaws get fixed!

You worship him because it's the best thing you can do... for yourself! Torment is life apart.. yeah, I can see that.

The question is not whether we are worthy of thy virtual divine friend without explanatory powers, but if he's worthy of my repect. Love is not a one way street you know. Alas, I don't forgive him the misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent parts in his grab bag story machine known as bible. But I'm sure you can, coz you're better than him.

If you took out God from the equation, I guess what you're saying is you think this reality sucks.

RE: God & Christianity
God created us with flaws on purpose and, in fact, always knew he would, so he forgives us those flaws, as he always knew he would. He then verified those flaws by allowing his enemy to tempt us to sin, as he always knew he would. We sinned, as he always knew we would. Thousands of years later, he came to earth as his own son, as he always knew he would, in order to be put to death for blasphemy, so that he would be able to forgive us that original sin, as he always knew he would. It is all a part of his mysterious plan, which he doesn't need, because he has always known what will happen. It's beyond pointless. It's retarded. This god guy doesn't sound very bright.

(EDIT: I forgot to mention that at one point, he got so angry with his creations, as he always knew he would, that he killed almost all of them in a big flood, as he knew he always would. Maybe he's just bored. I would be.)

Big Grin

I have taken 'god' out of the equation, remember.

But, as the second century Greco-Roman philosopher Celsus noted:

Quote:"God does not inflict correction on the world as if he were some unskilled laborer who is incapable of building something properly the first time around; God has no need to purify what he has built by means of a flood or a conflagration (as they teach)."

How odd that a "pagan" would have a higher view of 'god' than his so-called followers. Your god is a shlepper compared to Celsus'.

Great quote Big Grin

Tho' there's still merit in the message about flawed humans that not including "what he already knew he could" (Big Grin) that makes the biblical text relevant and important.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
