I will. Thanks. Honestly, living where I do, I'm either in a constant state of worry or a constant state of comfort- with Camp Pendleton literally up the street, you never know what might happen. Apparently, my sleepy little beach town was in a high state of emergency after the Paris attacks a few weeks ago. I say, after an attack like that, we're probably the safest place to be in the entire country, but I guess one can never be too safe.

This is fucking scary. There is literally no place that is safe from the derranged, deluded, psychopathic, crazed people that roam the earth. Makes me just want to stay inside forever. That's not going to happen, obviously, but just knowing that shootings just seem to be increasing all the time, makes me not want to live on this planet anymore.
If it weren't for the fact that I have to type out more notes in school tonight, I wouldn't be going in at all.

(I don't know the answer) Yes, they have risen by about 4 times in the last 40 years (from about 1 shooting per year in 1975 to 4.4 shootings per year in 2014). In that same span of time, vioelnt crime overall has seen a dramatic decrease, so in a way (if you consider the decrease of other violent crimes) the surge in mass shootings is huge.

From my standpoint, they seem to be increasing. I honestly wish there wasn't so much media coverage. Many people are becoming desensitized to mass shootings now simply because of redundant media coverage. Talking about the same thing in excess of hours and hours removes the shock value. Perhaps if they made things brief and to the point, the public would be more aware and more cautious?
Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Well that suggests shootings were always a regular thing and that we just pay more attention to them now.
That doesn't make me feel very safe. I tell a lie, I'm in a country with gun control and my flats in a cozy countryside village.
