It would seem like 2015 is the year to be disgruntled. How much worse is it going to be in 2016? At this point, I'd settle for a remote island in the middle of the ocean. As long as I have electric and internet and my cell phone, I'd be content. Well, I'd need food and fresh water, of course, but give me all of those things and my kids...

That motive scares me less than the thrill kill motive. Not directed at a certain section of society, selected based on a soft target, multiple potential victims and ease of escape. Totally random with no predictability. And the fact that there were 3 (or more).
