"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I can't get past the fact that I'm supposed to believe God is sending visions on how to stave off predictions in Revelations.

Yeah I could see how that would be totally out of Character because your God wants to completely destroy man (Noah) and Because the God you know is totally unforgiving (Jesus) and only wants to see people burn in Hell (Heaven.)

The Book of Revelation is a warning/record/history of what is to come. Just because God warns us does not mean we will heed His warning.

What happens to the water cycle when one adds the variable of a 7.3 billion people who all need to be fed clothed and to have fresh water to drink?

The fresh water reserves dwindle because more of it is walking around or is captured to play a supporting role for every man woman or child alive.
Which is where we are today. Where will we be when these 7.3 billion role over into the next generation? or when we cure disease that currently capps our population?

That is why I said if we take from the sea and do not give back... Because it is possible to take and not give back when you add humanity to the water cycle.

No, but it does not have to happen on our watch. (Like Sodom and Gomorrah did not have to burn if only 10 righteous men were found in that city) God always gives us a way out or an opportunity for redemption, up until the point where their is no one left to serve or worship God. Then he removes the righteous, and rains down hell fire and brimstone on everyone left.

I believe Revelation will read like a history book once it has all happened. That anyone left will be able to see what John was trying to describe.

Remember God set him aside from these events and simply told Him to write down what he saw. Now granted what he saw has been filtered through a 1 century understanding of how the world worked, but never the less it is an eye witness account. And 1st century or not he described a "no water situation" and 100's of millions of soldiers fighting over what remained. Which again is well with our God given ability to manage at the moment.

The other thing to remember is this plan is not an over night fix. The region is extremely arid/dry it will take decades of humidity and rain before the ground is tenable, and water is free flowing again.

It would be like trying to re hydrate a very large dried out sponge with the vapor comming off your morning coffee. Now given enough time not only will the sponge re-hydrate it will also retain and become saturated given enough time.

So this is something we need to do sooner rather than later.

I think if we took 1/2 the money spent world wide on this global climate change nonsense we would be on our way to really and truly making this world a better place.

Imagine if all the brown and tan spots on this map were all green what this would do for the world...

Never seen one of these then, Drich?

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Water purification is a thing these days.

....yes yes it is. What I am pointing out is not what we do with grey water.

What I am pointing out is the deserts of the world are very dry and arid places. why? because they are sun baked. that means no humidity, no ground moisture content. Do you know how rain works? moisture in the air has to reach the saturation point, condense and then fall. This can not happen over a desert unless rain is formed in one region and quickly pushed into a desert region. why? Because the ground is so dry it pulls the moisture out of the air. (Ever put a small amount of water in a dry/new terracotta pot?) It will take 100's of billions if not trillions of gallons of water simply to re-hydrate that region, which means decades before their is enough surplus to 'treat grey water.' Because 're-hydrate means humidity and ground moisture content that will allow conditions for rain clouds to form. This does not include the formation of lakes and rivers.

No, I get what you're saying, and desertification is also a thing.
