Pakistan to scour the web for Blasphemy

Pakistan to scour the web for Blasphemy
Quote:"Pakistan will start monitoring seven major websites, including Google, Yahoo and Amazon, for sacrilegious content, while blocking 17 other, lesser-known sites it deems offensive to Muslims, an official said Friday. The moves follow Pakistan's temporary ban imposed on Facebook in May that drew both praise and condemnation in a country that has long struggled to figure out how strict a version of Islam it should follow. ... 'If any particular link with offensive content appears on these websites, the (link) shall be blocked immediately without disturbing the main website,' [said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority spokesman Khurram Mehran]."

I guess we won't be getting many visitors from Pakistan.

Also, I'm thinking a campaign to make those websites even more offensive to muslims would be very fun. Where is Anonymous when you need them?

I feel for the youth and people of Pakistan who desperately want to be free thinkers, but can never show it in public. Along with, having to live in what modern industrial countries considered the dark ages.

I'm surprised but glad to see that Britain is 2nd. Rule Britannia! Fighting the good fight for rational skepticism!
'We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart.' H.L. Mencken

'False religion' is the ultimate tautology.

'I care not much for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it.' Abraham Lincoln

Well the site was set up by British people (i.e. me, Darwinian, Ace) so that might explain it.
