I've not really followed the Catholic sex abuse scandals that closely. How is Pope Francis guilty? Did he cover up abuse whilst he was a Cardinal?

If an atheist organization had committed one sex abuse for every thousand committed by the Catholic church, and if this atheist organization tried to cover it up, I would think that it would be lucky to bask in continual existence for more than a week.  Yet it's been 1500 years for the Catholic church and they're still controlling billions of dollars.

1500 years of institutional child rape, and that's only one form of atrocity among the scores of others they've committed throughout the centuries. The scope and scale of their evil is incomprehensible.

Church still is not paying judgments, hiding assets, withholding files and records, suing victims/families and failing to cooperate with authorities investigating abuse.
