You may recall several years ago a (IIRC) $16 million dollar lottery ticket that was redeemed at the last minute by a lawyer who would not disclose who the actual winner was.
After a seemingly lengthy investigation (why wouldn't someone with a big win like that come forward?) it was determined something was amiss with the lottery computers, and whomever had that winning ticket was feeling a little heat building because of their connection with the hinky lottery computers and rigged outcomes.
Anyhow, we have our first lawsuit now. An individaul with a big win in that time frame realized with a rigged prior lottery drawing, a roll over could have vastlyy increased his tickets value.
(I'm thinking he won't prevail, but if he squawks enough, and maybe his lawyer can find $10 mill or so to be suitable suitable motivation to do so) he might get a payout to go away)
Any how, why bother posting here with this ?
Well, it looks like Wisconsin, Colorado, and Oklahoma have had dealings with the miscreant who rigged Iowa's lottery, and there seems to be more hinky payouts being discovered, so it gets worse.
And it gets worse on top of that. There might be 36 states involved in this growing rigged state lottery scandal.
Considering the bad odds (really), heavy taxes, and now it turns out to be rigged to boot, why fucking play ??
Time to pull the plug on this, it's one more thing government can't do efficiently or fairly.
