I remember the creator of the TV series ER, the late Michael Crichton, an MD and a somewhat of a renaissance man, describing this woman's condition (or something similar) where a woman comes into his clinic and she is completely blind but not upset because she knows that her condition is temporary. Forgot what the condition is called.

But, yes, the Catholic Church has always been changing its "infallible" teachings:

To be fair every religion does this. Muslims and Jews and Hindus and Buddhist all, when they cant debunk science resort to saying "Yea we already knew that."
The one that irritates me the most is when a parent shows you the baby and says, "Isn't it a miracle?"
I want to respond, "Look Lady/Sir, I don't hate babies, but that shit happens millions of times a year all over the world."
