Another fake Catholic miracle.

RE: Another fake Catholic miracle.
All I can think of right now is the character of Pirelli from Sweeney Todd and his "miracle" elixir. It's amazing how people still believe they can be healed by just a few words or some tonic created in a person's home.

She may have been a Catholic woman, but a claimed miracle is not a "Catholic Miracle" until it has been investigated and officially proclaimed a miracle by the Church. This was not the case here.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Actually there are certain hysteric conditions, already described by Sigmund Freud, that can render you temporarily blind.

The priest seems "convinced," or at least he says that he is.

It doesn't matter if one priest is convinced, or even if 20 of them are. Officially approving a miracle claim as a Catholic Miracle is a long process that takes years of investigation. You can google about it if you'd like. This was by no means an approved Catholic Miracle. Far from it.

I must say, that's a handy wee rule, innit? 'We are Catholics, and the only miracles are events WE say are miracles.' Neat as a pin, that is.

And exactly how would "The church" know if it was a miracle?

If a magic god appeared in their midst and told them that it was a real miracle that a woman's eyes were healed by his god magic then the appearance of the magic god is just as big a miracle.

The real way they would decide it's veracity is to evaluate it's pro's and con's with their PR people..

It needs to be investigated and approved by the Vatican in order to be called an official Catholic Miracle. Otherwise it's just personal experience that cannot be corroborated.
