That kind of mindset is indeed perpetuating the problem. As long as the region turn into a warzone every now and then, there will be no turning to secularism. Patriotism and nationalism are strong driving forces. And they can be exploited for every intent and purpose. One has to keep in mind that - in certain countries - there are whole generations growing up with war and lacking the most basic commodities we are so used to. If there's no future, it's not that hard to imagine what these persons grow up to be. Revenge on the ones they consider responsible for their misery probably isn't that far from their minds.

Islam is not the problem.

Radical Islam is the problem, as is radical Christianity.

When it comes down to it, in the US, radical Christianity causes more problems than Islam.

Islam is about 1400 years old. Just think about what Christianity was like when it was 1400 years old.

Islam is the core source of radical muslims, it's in the teaching of islam and muhamed. Islam is the core problem, extremists are just a result.

christians didn't blow themselves in the name of jezuz, the crusaders stood like men in war for a cause. Even if they were wrong, at least they didn't kill innocents including children and women in public to get 72 hookers in heaven. it's not about which one started first, the world moved on, they should to, being 6 centuries behind is not an excuse for terrorism.

Christians were responsible for many attrocities when Christianity was at the same stage as Islam is now.

If explosives and high capacity rifles were available to Christians 600 or 700 years ago, you can bet they would have been using them. 

Aztecs, Native Americans, Africans were all murdered in the 100's of thousands in a large part in the name of Christianity.
