I wish they bring these religious laws in and quickly.
You see, I'm a devout believer of my own custom modified religion which states very unambiguously that I cannot pay any taxes whatsoever! Taxes are the work of the devil!
That's not me talking, but who am I to go against the good book (that I haven't finished writing yet).

My friend has a deeply held religious belief that she shouldn't wear clothes. She doesn't get to go out in public without wearing clothes though. Can she claim discrimination? Or is that just reserved for the Christians?

No, congress makes and enforces rules that prevent discrimination, or should. The moment your religion starts to affect other people it ceases to be a private thing and must take into account the rights of the other people. Holding a religious belief is not an excuse to act like a dick, its a reason but not an excuse.
So, then yes. Congress should make rules that restrict the religious beliefs of people.
Hmm. If only their were an amendment baring congress from doing that very thing.

What a shockingly thick-headed response! How did you decide this is in any way about free speech or that I'm interested in limiting others' speech rights?
What next? Because I referred to the 1st Amendment, I'm also in favor of limiting freedom of assembly and a free press? Christ, Drich, I really didn't think I needed to spell out that I had the free exercise clause in mind.

No, they want to stop religious people behaving in a way that is not considered correct for the society now. For example if my religious belief is that I should cut the still beating heart of a human and display the corpse the state be able stop to that. If you agree then you are restricting the religious rights of an Aztec priest, shame on you.
