Safely removing pre-loaded aps on my....

RE: Safely removing pre-loaded aps on my....
I have no idea how to do that.

But it seems like an extremely awesome idea. I'm not so worried about drainage with the battery as I am with the lack of room I have for stuff I'll actually use. If I'm never going to use any of those apps, why do they need to stay there taking up space?

Well, depends on which version of Android and whether you have the default Settings app.

Menu -> Settings -> Apps -> choose an app -> Disable

This won't reclaim the space used by the app but it will prevent them from running. A typical app doesn't use a lot of storage, however.

Or you could go to play store and download an app called "clean master" .
It has an inbuilt functionality called battery saver, which hibernate apps (temporarily) every time you switch your screen off, you can also put it on hibernate while you are using your device. It finds the battery draining apps, report it to you and ask you to hibernate it. Other functions include boosting your device by clearing your ram, which basically makes your device smoother and stuff

But what CD said is nice too.

Gee, maybe they could fucking ask before they put shit on your device ??

Well, some of those apps I'm pretty sure are for the computer inside the tablet, so it's understandable why they might be there. But shit like milk music I don't need. I've never used it or any of the other music apps on there. I have IheartRadio installed, which I use instead.

Maybe. That's part of the reason my last 5 phones/tablet have been Nexus branded. No shovelware installed (unless you consider Google apps to be shovelware - I figure it's their platform and bundling is expected.)

Rooting your tablet generally voids the warranty and it can be hard to get the tablet back to original condition if it's been rooted. If it's not your tablet, I wouldn't recommend it. Rooting can work wonders. It can also really screw things up as well.

Wrong thread? Tongue

Yeah, I wouldn't root your tablet. Not unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Just disable the apps that you don't use, you should have plenty of space, especially if you set up file/photo folders to automatically upload to the cloud over WiFi.

Take it as a lesson. I know you didn't have any choice in this matter, but if you are buying a phone/tablet in the future, the trade off for buying it through a service provider rather than directly through the manufacturer is bloatware. My last phone had an Amazon suite built in that took me rooting the device to remove a half screen widget from one of my homescreens.

Nexus fo life, son!

Crap... that was the wrong thread. Can you move that post for me pretty please? You know where it belongs Heart

And incidentally, in case ya didn't see it before, this was a tablet that I received through my student kit at school. I didn't have choice in the matter as to what was sent to me. Each curriculum we get new students, different tablets are issued. Three of us received the Tab S. The next set of students got much smaller ones.
