I've accidentally used the wrong restroom before, when I was taking my son to go fairly late at night after driving home all day from a family vacation. Luckily I don't think there were any women in there, or at least I didn't hear any screams. But I realized after we walked out why there weren't any urinals in there.

Making two sex restrooms uunisex is not burdensoom. Change the sign add a screen around the urinals. Done.

At my parents restaurant the health inspector made us change the single handicap stall in the men's restroom. It was anchored to the wall incorrectly and the rails were too far away from the toilet.
The quote for the single stall was a little less than $1200.
That was burdensome for my parents struggling restaurant. Changing building codes would be a huge thing.

Changing building codes is always a big thing. How would opening both doors to both sexes change building codes?

Even simpler, get rid of public toilets for everyone. That way nobody is discriminated against.

Is that why British alleys always smell of pee?  In fairness so do American parking garages. I hate to see how it smells if we start dumping too. . . .
