That's actually pretty old news. I read that some weeks ago and my only thought was, how could they expect differently? If you program a bot to learn, based on comments on the internet, the first thing it will come up with are profanities, racial slurs and more or less sexual vulgarities.

Hmm I don't see yet what's the fuss about because, for instance, there is so called Cleverbot that exists for few years now. It's also AI and very popular and it can get racist if you ask him like "Was Hitler right about Jews?" and yet no one is lifting any panic about this. Maybe because the Microsoft Corp's so-called chatbot is from Microsoft and it's just a juicy field day for conspiracy theorists.

They should of let it carry on. I mean eventually it would of been confronted for its racism, right?
Wouldn't it be kind of interesting to see how it would factor that into its future responses? Whats the point in the experiment if you're going to shackle it to whats socially acceptable? We learn nothing.

Well, maybe the imprimatur of a computer coming to the (apparent) realization racism is OK is just not acceptable.
Although it's funny as hell how it happened. Maybe we only let nice people play with it next time . . .
