Necessary in itself. Why is it self-evident that everything that exists cannot not exist? Clearly Quantum Fluctuation experiments demonstrate otherwise (we can witness things beginning and ceasing to exist - that is the definition of non-necessary existence).

How could it not be necessary?

Nonexistent existence is the only alternative to existence, and that makes no sense.

Something must exist, and that something is existence itself.

I personally believe existence is also eternal.

Necessary in itself, meaning what? The existence of the universe is necessary for the existence of the universe, and the universe simply is, and the universe self-evidently has to exist.
