Would you live in VR?
#21
RE: Would you live in VR?
Still no idea what your objection is, sorry EP. I'm just asking if you personally would get in the machine, yes or no. You can have whatever experience you want. There would be no "problems", as far as you were concerned, further to ones you wanted there to be. That is the thought experiment; Hammy's link probably explains it better. If you find it flawed, then please just ignore the question. It's not meant to be any more complex.

My clinging to reality has always been because of the eventual consequences to myself and others; remove those, and I would not be precious about it.

PS: It is wonderful to hear you wouldn't though Hammy!

RE: Would you live in VR?
Given my reality and given that I don't care much for our profit oriented world in any case, yes, plug me in. What are you waiting for? You may not have realized it, but making money is the new world religion. The worst and most powerful of them all.

RE: Would you live in VR?
I think the reason why I would no longer want to plug in is because the causes of my happiness are now more important than my happiness itself.

It's where my super-awesome happiness comes from that's what really makes me happy Smile

Well, that's cool!

But you could take "with you" whatever makes you this happy, and it still would, plus you could reprogram anything else to be more to your suiting. You wouldn't want to? All your friends can come with you too, and so on.

I just said I didn't have an objection, you just basically mislead us in the OP because you're unable to express your ideas any better. I pointed out how you did that, you chose to ignore it and to be passive aggressive about it instead of discussing it with me. That's a problem on your end and I don't know how to fix it.

I'd let my friends choose for me. That's my answer Smile

I don't even know how to talk to you EP. Sorry, we're done here.

Hammy: Ahah! Okay Big Grin Nice answer.

I'd take with me (assuming they wanted to come) all my friends, and we'd have the best time.

Haha Big Grin

I do understand a certain clinging to the fidelity of "what is real". I think my own inability to even define what "real" means leaves me unattached. It's morality and pragmatism that makes me care about it.

RE: Would you live in VR?
I define "real" as the opposite of imaginary.

I'm definitely happier in real life than even in my most ecstatic dreams. Reality matters I think.
