[split] Tea Party & Racism
#11
RE: Proposition 8 Ruled Unconstitutional by a Fed. Judge
The "birther" movement is separate from the tea party. The tea party has 10 main goals; none of which involve getting rid of Obama because they think he isn't legally entitled to the Presidency.

As I've said before; these are anti-government protests. You will find a lot of people going to them who do not represent the tea party cause in the slightest. The racists get removed by security (and there are numerous videos to show this).

The birther movement is inextricably linked to the tea party movement. It was it's bread and butter when it was first founded on Tax Day in 2008, and is still a major part of the radical side of the tea party. That whole Shirley Sherod mess was in response to the NAACP calling out the Tea Party for it's racist elements. They held that Shirley Sherod video to fend off the allegations with "No, You!"

I do not deny that there are people in the Tea Party who are not racist and for them it is about the political ideologies. But the racism is a major part of the tea party, you can deny it all you want, but it's there. Just scroll down that wiki article and look at the demographics. 1% black people. It's a middle to upper class white privilege movement, backed mostly by republicans or people sympathetic to republicans.

If the tea party is trying to repudiate the racists, then I'm glad to hear it, but it doesn't change the fact that there is racism in the group. One example of such racism was in the letter to Mr. Lincoln and the Tea Party Express refused to take action against the man. The Tea Party Federation did cut ties with the Tea Party Express, and that is certainly a move in the right direction, but it simply highlights my main point, the tea party movement has major racist elements, and until they've sufficiently repudiated those elements, I will continue to be critical of it.

A typical conservative ploy is to distract the easily distracted from the real issue.

That would be so much more convincing if those racist shits (sorry, Adrian, you're a nice guy but a little naive about American politics) were denouncing Bush while he pissed all over the Bill of Rights. But they were Oh-so-quiet when the white guy did it.

I have Tea Baggers in my own family and they ARE racists.

It's true. Racist as Hitler. The whole Republican party has something against someone, their people to persecute of choice now are the gay community now since the whole California thing.

Not just racist, but you must also hate and vehemontly oppose the following:

gays, brown people, democrats, liberals, non-christians (especially muslims and atheists), poor people, the unemployed, hipsters, the 420 friendly, hippies, the 14th amendment of the constitution, major pro-black people organizations and representatives (like the NAACP, Reverend Al Sharpton, though their primary focus is their fictionally powerful new black panthers), all news networks not affiliated with FOX, immigrants, the children of immigrants who come to the US, middle class people, anyone who dares speak against rush limbough/sarah palin/war in iraq/war in afghanistan/need to war in iran/need to war someplace else, attacks against major corperations, laws against corperations, regulations against corperations, most government agencies (bureau of education, EPA, etc), all taxes, abortions, pro-choice supporters, people who don't oppose abortions and pro-choice supporters, evolution, climate change, any mention of the US being secular, anything secular, any and all individuals in history who were secular (including founding fathers and founding documents), parts of the constitution seporating church and state, scientists who refute the bible, non-christian churches, Al Gore, Keith Olbermann, Rachael Maddow, the Bible (not conservative/enspousing free market enterprise enough), universal healthcare, the ACLU, government business regulation, sex before marriage, same sex marriage, people who don't conform to their tea party/conservative ideals and ideas 100% of the time, government interferance in not allowing companies to get away with doing anything they want to their employees, the environment, environmentalism, people who live together but aren't married, teachers (especially those who teach evolution, science, and math), intellectuals, college graduates, mathmatics, most scientific fields (especially those that refute the bible), anyone who believes that government has any place in society beyond the most minimum possible of influence.

I'm sure I'm missing about 500 pages worth of things you'd have to hate, but this is what I've gotten so far.
The main difference I see in their actions and such from just REALLY right wing religious conservatives is almost non-existant. All of their funding is essentially coming from rich conservatives, including former "Bushies" who were either directly or indirectly involved in his administration or they simply supported it until virtually the entire government bled most of its republicans out in the last election cycle.
At some point in the future, I expect either the Tea Party to fold into the republican party or the republican party functionally absolve and the tea party take its place with the more moderate republicans either forming their own party or joining the democratic party. I also have a theory that conservatism as enspoused by FOX propoganda, the conservapedia, and the hard-right wing fringe of the republican party, and C-street are eventually going to become a full-blown church, assuming it hasn't already considering the brainwashing involved.
