Since when is christians making the case for their belief anything relating to the real world or history? If you want to go there, it's about technological advance. Not more or less.

Actually there have been. Just not in the bible, if that's the dribble you mean.

I just want to know what their argument is. Since the opening post said there is one.

When jesus freaks claim "bronze age" ancestry they are merely indulging their delusions.

Hold on, I got it from you and some others here that the old testament was written by a bunch of bronze age desert sheep fuckers or something to that effect. Christopher Hitchens said the same thing. It was a Christian who protested by saying they were in the iron age.

Wait a moment, dear.  A bunch of illiterate peasant farmers at the beginning of the Iron Age didn't write shit.  Let's get that clear.  There is no indication AT ALL of any sort of OT writings...in any language...prior to the Greek septuagint written in the early 3d century BC.  The Dead Sea Scrolls, which are the oldest Hebrew ( and Greek and Aramaic) writings of biblical horseshit date from the mid 2d century at the earliest.  Whether or not this crap existed as oral tales is debatable but no one had any reason to write this shit down until the state of Judaea gained independence from the Seleucid Empire in the mid 2d century.  At that time they did a brief expansion before dynastic squabbling reduced them to the sorry state that the Romans found them in while Pompey was running wild in the east.

But anything that a christard says should be taken with several tons of salt.

Hitchens is a great writer but not an archaeologist.

The story appears to be -set- in the bronze age.  The narrators version of it, anyway. Standard Golden Age establishment legend/myth.

"We come from really long ago, and we used to be badasses that stomped all over the place, generally getting our way".

It's a particularly seductive narrative to peoples who found themselves in the exact opposite situation irl. Common tropes revolve around a great (and lost) civilization...larger than life heroes fighting wild animals and mythical creatures, winning battles against superhuman or supernatural enemies, wrestling spirits, securing divine generational blessings/protection/curses, etc. Pass the popcorn.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It wouldn't be the first time, ancient myths made into younger narratives. People don't crop out of thin air. They already had their campfire tales before they put anything in writing.

Rgr that...had to find some way to pass the time, and there was always at least one bullshitter who wasn't good at anything other than rattling his cup. What I find amusing is that people, today, think that people then really had no idea that they were telling myths. It's an unfortunate revision of history (and it doesn't say anything decent about how we view those people). The abrahamic kissing cousins are almost uniquely gullible in this regard, though that might have had something to do with killing people who didn't tow the line.

What is curious....I'm sure the xristards would say "coincidental"... is that when the Hasmonean Dynasty expanded via conquest in the late 2d century it ended up controlling the same areas that "god" had supposedly given to the hebrews.  Again.  I'm sure its just a coincidence.

In a pig's eye.

Don't forget they had much less real knowledge to build upon. So I'm not sure, they were really aware of telling myths. So many unknowns back then and so many people still taking nature's forces for some god's work.
