I like the current favicon. I agree with what was said about a transparent icon. No bueno. Also not keen on black or dark grey, myself.

Detail loss with shrinkage. KISS principle would apply.

I think your proposal is nice, but definitely not the one with the gray background for me.

I don't have any issue with the current one we have, but if we were to change, then I would probably go for the second one.

I prefer the current design, but with a more vibrant color: like a neon blue effect, or purple.
To those who are defending the present design: there is no question that the design is horrible and "wrong" in every way. It isn't designed to be an icon, it's just a scaled down version of the previous logo - with no attempt to make it look visually appealing. This is how it would look if I simply did the same thing to the current logo:

Sorry, Aractus. I just think you care about this infinitely more than everyone else.
I like the current one because it's bright and familiar.
