Suggestion: New AF favicon? Have your say

RE: Suggestion: New AF favicon? Have your say
I like the current favicon. I agree with what was said about a transparent icon. No bueno. Also not keen on black or dark grey, myself.

Detail loss with shrinkage. KISS principle would apply.

I did keep it simple...

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

I think your proposal is nice, but definitely not the one with the gray background for me.

I don't have any issue with the current one we have, but if we were to change, then I would probably go for the second one.

I prefer the current design, but with a more vibrant color: like a neon blue effect, or purple.

To those who are defending the present design: there is no question that the design is horrible and "wrong" in every way. It isn't designed to be an icon, it's just a scaled down version of the previous logo - with no attempt to make it look visually appealing. This is how it would look if I simply did the same thing to the current logo: [Image: af-icon-current-logo.png] As you can see it looks similar to this: [Image: favicon.ico] because all I've done is cropped the logo and resized it. It is god-awful.

The versions I propose: [Image: af-icon-aractus.com-style1-16x16.png] or [Image: af-icon-aractus.com-style2-16x16.png] or [Image: af-icon-aractus.com-style3-16x16.png] are all based on the "atom" logo. You could of course base it directly off the topic icons:

But the problem with that is that doesn't scale-down to 16x16 as nicely, and you end up with something that looks like a flower rather than an atom: [Image: af-red.png]

Sorry, Aractus. I just think you care about this infinitely more than everyone else.

I like the current one because it's bright and familiar.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
