The Population as it stands for the United States is 324,023,207.

Broken down as follows:

White     234,625,204 or 72.41%
Black:     40,859,326 or 12.61%
Asian:     15,391,102 or 4.75%
American Indian: 3,078,220 or 0.95%

Using "The counted", which is a reasonable site for statistics for those killed by police.

Out of 596 people killed by police so far;

49.3%   of white people have been shot and killed by police this year.
24.66% of black people have been shot and killed by police this year.
2.13% of Asians have been shot and killed by police this year.
2.18% of native Americans have been shot and killed by police this year.

These statistics can be verified if needs be.

yeah, that's the exact stats in the article I linked, and when you break it down to the unarmed victims, a black male is 5 times more likely to be shot by the police then a white person. Read the article. You can't demand proof and then just ignore it when it's presented. Even with those stats and not taking into account armed or unarmed, you can see that blacks are being shot at twice their population. So it's going against your idea that white people are shot as much as black people.

I don't think anyone is disputing those facts Cap, but I did ask bennyboy specifically as to how many black cops murdered black people whilst on service and/or, if there was a black officer present, why didn't they do or say anything instead of letting his colleague get away with what is clearly cold-blooded murder? I am still waiting for those particlar statistics because then we will get a larger picture instead of "white cops kill black people." It is not so black and white (excuse the pun) as it is made out.

Perhaps it would help to know why you think that's a meaningful stat in context?  Is it only troublesome when white officers shoot black perps......racially tainted police malfeasance doesn't seem, to me, to hinge upon the color of the officer who pulls the trigger. That a state body can be so plainly demonstrated to be an organ of racial inequality..regardless of the color of the officers who it employs...rather, seems to be the problem.

Cops kill people armed or unarmed, a large proportion of blacks compared to total of the black population is extremely high. Yes, we have got that, but why are you avoiding the question as to what race the policeman was when he opened fire. Was he Asian, was he your typical yankee, was he a black cop or a hispanic cop Statistics make a great deal of difference. Cap brought up some useful statistics and not once did I question as to their validity because these statistics provide a valid point in the grand scheme of things. You don't want statistics because it doesn't FIT with your agenda, or should I say objectivity. Again, no point in debating with someone who is not willing to explore the bigger picture and thus capable of objectivity. Have a nice evening.

Does it matter....?  We're discussing problems with the police force, not an individual potential racist. I think it;s amusing that you reference the big picture all while trying to needle in on something that avoids the only thing the big picture -could- refer to.

Ask yourself this...if it turned out that every black man shot by cops was shot by a black cop.........would that make the situation seem more or less sinister, more or less explicable? Howabout the other way round? All blacks shot were shot by white cops? Obviously, it wouldn't change the fact that blacks are shot at rates many times greater than whites...which is the fucking problem in the first place...not the colors of the officers that shoot people.

Contrary to what your opinion and your answer would be, my opinion wouldn't change in the slightest, but since you are using an obvious "white cop kills.......", then we know which angle you are coming from and thus there really is no need to carry on. To continue would be futile knowing full well that I could bring statistics to the table and you would still use your own bias to skew the argument. You are a good poster and pretty much liked here, and I am a newb here. However, I can tell the difference between the being objective and subjective, the difference between suppositions and actual facts. Furthermore, I have never in this thread stated that the statistics are false, in fact they are very real. However, we know the number of blacks being unlawfully killed is not just and could never be justified; I would still need to see a complete breakdown of statistics of the cops who killed the black population in a particular area. Is this not reasonable to ask?

.............?  I don't know the stats....Rob, I don't know.  I assume that some significant portion of black cops shoot black people.  Demographically, this would have to be so, but it doesn't make the bigger picture, that you deigned to harp about, different in any regard.  Regardless of what portion of cops who shoot people are black or white -cops- are shootting black people at disturbingly greater rates than they're shooting white people...and that's not an issue of individual racism in any way shape or form. That's what we call institutional racism. Crosses all boundaries. Compels everyone involved to participate..black, white..purple.
