Hitchens '07: God is not Great

RE: Hitchens '07: God is not Great
I didn't really discover Hitchens until a few months ago (never really thought about him) and binge-watched all the YouTube videos I could find. I can say unequivocally (with apologies to Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris who are also wonderful) that he is the most captivating speaker I have ever heard.  The breadth of knowledge he had at his disposal and ability to think on his feet so quickly was amazing.

My favorite line from "God is Not Great" was in the section where he talks about the theme of human sacrifice in the Old Testament, precursor stories to the crucifixion:

"Once again we have a father demonstrating love by subjecting a son to death by torture, but this time the father is not trying to impress god. He is god, and he is trying to impress humans."

The first time I read that, I was laughing uncontrollably.  What a writer and orator.

Yes, the patripassianists caused the proto-orthodox jesus freaks no end of trouble and forced them to invent this whole trinity-bullshit story that all of our resident morons find so compelling!  3d-4th century mental gymnastics.  Nothing more.

I hope God recorded the "oh f*cking Hell" look on his face when he woke up on the otherside of eternity, and just realized life's work went into the toilet.

I'd like to binge watch  several 'great atheists' expressions and their judgement day arguments get flushed..

If only it were true that gods existed.

I'd love to see the butt hurt expressions of Christians when they come face to face with Odin and realise they're wrong.

But it's not unusual for "good" believers to be to get a hard on in anticipation of their opponents suffering in their imagined hell
Dying to live, living to die.
