I don't believe in Christianity primarily because of the brain

Quote:As I sit here in my office surrounded by piles of scientific books, I can't find a single reference to the soul, or any notion of an immaterial, eternal essence that occupies our being.

He should spend more time reading those books, dripshit.

And so should you.

I like how religion provokes people to tackle the idea of death and if they decide to live as an atheist, they fight for it in debates. Thats brutal, to argue for the world view that you will die permanently.

God might exist, in my opinion, but to abandon my dreams, in order to serve brutal creator is almost the same as death to me. Jesus, might have lived noble life, but he didn't married in his short life and ended up being tortured to death. Joy, isnt it?

There iw no use for a soul.  Modern science is showing that the brain is responsible for all the functions human bodies have.  I evolved into a complex individual, but when my brain ceases to work, I cease to exist.  Christianity is just myth and superstition.

Do you agree?

Despite what your peers say (logical fallacy: "Ad populum" ) Phycology says there is indeed a soul:

So No I do not agree

I follow the evidence not popular thought to identify fact, you might want to give that a try.
Wink

Did you even read the article? There's no evidence in it at all. Just some woo infected claims about the observer principle in quantum mechanics, which is a misrepresentation of the science. You didn't 'follow the evidence', you googled a headline that supported your predrawn conclusions and quoted the link. Why don't you tell us in your own words what evidence Dr. Lanza found? You won't because you can't, because he didn't list any.

Lanza is trying to push his own agenda.  He created the notion of biocentricism, which is something his peers do not agree with simply because it's untestable woo.  He does not speak for psychology as an endeavor, and, frankly, appears to be a quack.

Apparently Deepak Chopra is a fan of his ramblings, which is reason enough to ignore them.

Yes, and see the YouTube video below for a talk by Sean Carrol, on this :-

Also if evolution is true, (and I have no reason to reject it), and therefore, there was no Adam and Eve in a garden of Eden, then there was no original sin, and therefore nothing for any "Christ" to save us from. So regardless of the existence of an historical figure (or not), called Jesus, any such character could not save us from sin, because the whole premise is a load of bovine fertiliser, (fertilizer in U.S.).
There are no atheists in terrorist training camps.

Ah, sin. The purported taint of not living up to the bronze and iron age standards god itself merrily threw out the window when it served its purpose in the OT. Quite possibly the dumbest thing people have ever deluded themselves into believing.

Actually, I think the OP made a very strong argument.  If you have a brain and use it then religion goes out the window.

Funny how religious affiliation plummets as education rises*

*I have the feeling that Islam's increasing popularity has more to do with anti-Western sentiment than it does with people being objective during their conversions (if such a thing is possible).
