RE: Man syskeys a scammer's computer!
Actually, they get people to call them as well by the use of malicious advertisements that tell them their computers are infected. All the more reason to install uBlock pronto!

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

That's not true, if they were providing tech support (which costs a fortune with MS anyway) they would of course talk you through any bios settings that might need to be changed, such as boot order. Or they could use it to diagnose what the problem is (e.g. does BIOS register the HDD).

I'm aware that going into the BIOS is necessary at times, when I was still learning the in's and out's of Windows 10. I made an error and had O/S problem, so I had to contact Microsoft for some assistance. I asked the tech on the phone if anything had to be done in BIOS he said "Were not licensed to change any of those settings, you need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to adjust those.

It was funny when he had him change the passwords in the BIOS though!

Right so, either they're lying, or they don't have the expertise to walk you through BIOS, or there is some other reason why they couldn't help you in that instance, but it certainly would not be because they need a license to do so (and it was probably just a poor choice of words on their behalf rather than an attempt to deceive you). It may be that Dell or whoever puts on custom BIOS's that Microsoft doesn't want to deal with since they're not industry standard, who knows. If you give your computer to me to repair it I will do whatever I have to to get it back to you in pristine condition, and I don't need a license from anyone for that. And nor does an actual repairer either! Big Grin

That's what I thought also, when I told them my model of PC they tried to BS me that Windows 10 was not officially supported by them. I use a MSI laptop and I know company's can't use Microsoft in their products without a license. The rates that tech supports charges is outrageous, my coworker took her computer to Best Buy. She ended up paying well over $200.00 for a tune up. That's outrageous! A simple tune up should of been about $50.00 to $75.00 max.

We charge $45- $75 depending on how "dirty" a computer is. You wouldn't believe how some people treat their shit. One customer definitely got his money's worth at $75. His password is "samfucksmehardintheass69", and we had to clean up sticky keys in addition to the, heh, hard core virus removal that needed to be done.

I don't think you should post his password on a public forum, lol. But that brings up a thing that I see in a few of these videos with Indian scammers, is that the Indians seem to be very prejudice against pornography as if it's the source of all computer viruses. Obviously they're not real technicians, but I thought that stigma was interesting.

Oh so were they questioning whether your computer had a license for Windows then? That would seem odd, especially since MS gave Windows 10 away for free for a whole year or something - even to pirate Windows 7-8.1 users.

That's too funny, I know a lot of people don't respect their computers. A lot of cases I've helped with resulted in having to reinstall their O/S, one case was so far gone that she had to order a new hard drive cause of all the malware infecting her HDD. It pains me to see and hear about using an abusing a PC, mac users can use and abuse there equipment as much as like. Sorry, I hate Mac products with a passion. If anyone of you are "Apple People", I'm sorry if my words offend you.

I have a valid license for my Windows 10, they were saying that MSI computers were not officially compatible with Windows 10.
