Another "how could any intelligent woman be a Christian?" thread

RE: Another "how could any intelligent woman be a Christian?" thread
Women remain Christian because they don't completely read and understand their own book. This is why I think women aren't allowed to have any power in the church. Giving them that power would allow them to realize what it's really talking about.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

They don't read the Bible.  They are brainwashed into the cult from the toddler years on.  If you have been told you're a second-class citizen and not worthy of respect for long enough, you not only believe it, but some actually embrace it.

In another thread I was looking at today, someone asked where the theists are.

These last posts show why few theists bother any more.

It's not even that people found better things to do than to believe in god.
I mean sunday you have options go to church and be a christian or say fuck i'll
whip out the grill take the twelve pack out of the fridge invite some friends over
and enjoy the game. In reality christianity is dying off because people have better things to do.
Atheism is a non-prophet organization join today.

Heh.  Poor baby.  Can't figure out why a theist might find run into some opposing ideas in an atheist forum.  Heh.

Should be titled, "how could any intelligent woman be wear a tent over their bodies, walk 10 metres behind their husbands, watch whilst he is making it with 5 other women and still remain calm and faithful. Yup, Islamic women beat western women hands down as far as being intellectually defective.

It all comes down to a few things:

1. "It was the culture at the time!"
This implies that God isn't powerful enough to demand that women be treated equally. It also raises the question--why didn't god wait several hundred years to come to earth as he allegedly did?

2. (Variation) "It was the interpretation of the culture of the time of God's word."
This makes you wonder why God hasn't issued a new word to replace all of this in all these years. It also calls into question the veracity of the bible. How many other things in the bible are just interpretation?

3. Cherrypicking. Christians have a habit of tossing out the verses they don't like. It's become customary. The bible is now a choose your own adventure. If you don't like it, you can throw it out. If you think it's important (like Homosexuality) it's 100% god's word, and anyone who suggests otherwise is a dirty heathen!

4. Culture. We're raised in a culture where religion still dominates. They're aided by the few good actions they actually do (justifying all the awful and terrible things they do by using god as a crutch). The church does good, so the church should be good. And all the bad they do isn't really bad, it's god's will. Because everything is okay if it's God's will. Just like God drowning 99% of the world's population is apparently perfectly moral and just because God says it is.

5. They justify it because Eve ate the fruit (I hear it was a Quince)

6. They themselves are misogynists. (See: Phylis Schlafly)
The whole tone of Church teaching in regard to woman is, to the last degree, contemptuous and degrading. - Elizabeth Cady Stanton
