Your moral compass

RE: Your moral compass
"(it can make you feel ashamed of being an atheist)"

The actions of some do not define the whole, I'd never feel ashamed of my disbelief in damaging and ridiculous beliefs.

Seriously, what is your endgame here? Because I know you're not stupid enough to present a biased source like that without knowing you'll be called out on it.

RE: Your moral compass
If a true psycopath suddenly becomes "moral" (some form of religious subjective morality) it seems to me they're either pretending to do so pragmatically, or else an intangible threat/promise is enough to make them conform. Either way, it's not too impressive. Dealing with psycopaths in society is hard, but manipulating and scaring them isn't the best way IMO.

Oh, it's probably because being born in a Soviet-bloc country I am well-accustomed to Communist and atheist propaganda. But I have not seen it reversed.
Of course, it is biased.
Is it what all/most young Roman catholics are being taught about Spanish Civil War or this article is a rare exception?

What, exactly, is "atheist propaganda"?

there was an assertion that unlike Jews and Christians liberals don't have a moral compass and liberals cannot even comprehend what a  moral compass may be.

Well, I live in Europe and this type of rhetoric is rather alien to me. I guess it is an American thing... Big Grin
Can you tell me more about it?

Moral compass? Interesting, I had no idea morality was electromagnetic in nature... Tongue

I can't help but notice, that the post in question doesn't mention muslim moral compass. Is it because their moral compass tends to guide them into buildings? That tells us all we need to know, doesn't it? Essentially - just some conservative sh*t-stain spewing vacuous, self-righteous, bullsh*t rhetoric, as they do. Nothing particularly worthy of attention, really.

This is propaganda by certain atheists, and looks mostly anti-religion. There is no default atheist position, further to disbelief in deities (whatever they are). Each particular atheist may go further, of course. That's up to them.

By the by, most atheists are also agnostic. (Ignostic in my case, but it's the same kind of thing.) They're not exclusive positions, by the definitions commonly used.

The list of potential victims would be short, on a deserted island.   Wink

The notion that atheists have no moral compass is an effect of a centuries long argument from consequences levied by a certain subset of the religious.  Without god, they say, there is no morality. Ergo, to some of them...an atheist has no moral compass. Whereas others prefer to claim that an atheist's moral compass is secretly christian, for example. They then credit the god or the religion with whatever it is that said atheist would consider a moral statement. It's all a bunch of horseshit, but it appeals to smug assholes like you wouldn't believe, lol.
