Guy is on a power trip, inciting others. Same as Trump. So, hell yes, I'm taking him seriously. If for no other reasons that for inciting the primitves to take violent action. And they do, as recent bombings in Dreseden show and all the other rightwing attacks during the last year.

He has been on a power trip for donkeys now. As for the recent terrorists activities on European soil, this is down to right-wing groups as you rightly stated as well as right-wing Islamic groups. There is no difference.

Just as we atheists do, Wilders is doing likewise. He did state that he is NOT against muslims, but against the religious doctrine. It is like ourselves who don't have any dislike for Christians, just the religious doctrines they love to follow.

But someone always provides the motif. In both cases. Guys like Wilders, he's not the only one by a long chalk, are the ones inciting the brainless right. On the other side there are different figures appealing mainly to the same primitive instincts. That's about the only difference there is. And my heartfelt contempt goes out to both sides.

I can only assume you never heard him or he's just down you avenue in any case. I for one would never use this kind of speech against any given group. I would be ashamed of myself if I did. But that's just me. So it's certainly not we atheists, since as I argued in another thread, atheism isn't what's defining me in any cvase. There are quite a few atheists I gladly have nothing in common with.
So, the usual group registry on your part again. No big surprises there.

I am speculating that today there is a young immgrant Muslim family in San Diego, California. The woman wears a burka and trains her daughters to do so also. What are the odds that the daughters will be wearing bikinis by the time they are 18? I would put my money on bikini over burka. Freedom and self expression are enticing.

You know I only once saw someone wearing a burka. I saw more wearing a hajib but wearing makeup and stylish clothing on the side.
I would even go as far as saying, I saw more othodox male jews that traditional muslim women. Hardly surprising, since the second district of Vienna is still more or less jewish. I feel equally uncomfortable when seeing someone wearing religious garb. My own kind of prejudices, since none of them ever gave me reason to suspect them of being up to anything other than living their traitional lifestyle.
Thing is, I always compare them to me and how uncomfortable I would feel if pressed into any kind of corset.

The phenomenally swift rate of assimilation for immigrants children into americana is something that doesn't escape the notice of those immigrant communities themselves. If you're talking about the US, and betting between burkas and bikinis, the bikini is so far ahead that it's pointless to bet on. That;s just the short term...the first generation. Over the long run, our culture is so pervasive that many families have entirely forgetten where they actually came from (let alone what the preferred headdress in that place was), and invent stories to fill that hole, all the while believing them to be true, lol.

Which in turn is just a tool. In the same way as guys like Wilders work the other side. It's a power trip for both sides. I tend to view it as jerking off in front of a mirror and asking people to join the fun.
