She's Christian (Catholic).

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Yeah I can see the STD reduction not being all too great.

But the UTI reduction does make sense. Unless a man showers and cleans under his foreskin right before he has sex, it is going to be a little gritty under there if it was cleaned in the morning and had all day to accumulate sweat and bacteria before having sex in the evening.

Welp.  I was eating lunch.

But yeah, that's a good point - though I'd like to think any thinking male would clean up the 'sex' part of his body before sex.

So there's a potential religious bias involved, in her appealing to ad hoc rationalizations regarding a practice engaged for -no- medical benefit, and -with- no roundly demnstrable medical benefit.  Combine that with wide cultural acceptance of the practice.......what else do you expect?

As I said, wash your dick. If you cannot wash yourself, you will need to be washed...and not just your dick. You will have trouble with infections that have nothing to do with your penis not having been mutilated at birth. They're not exactly hard to wash, for the individual or their cargiver..... so I don;t even know why it would be relevant. It could only be the laziness of the caregiver involved...not any problem...with your dick.

So what's the rationalization...mutilate your sons so that uncaring caregivers can't cause them heartache at the very end of their lives.....?

That wasn't that good of a point, though. And you demonstrated that with the last statement.

I just don't see why this should ever be a choice made for someone else. There are potential (if minor) health benefits to removing the apendix as well. We don't make that choice for other people, though.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

Fair enough, but I didn't mean that it was a good point in favor of circumcision, but that it's just one other tiny benefit.

Religious bias?

Circumcision is not a Catholic ting. It's a Jewish thing. She's Catholic.

The largest Catholic nations on earth (Brazil, all of Latin America, Germany, and France), hardly ever circumcise their boys.

My whole family is South American and Catholic, and none of them are circumcised.

Her opinions are purely based on health and what she has seen and dealt with as a doctor. Not religion.

So do uncircumcised men typically jump in the shower right before having sex?

LOL, as would I.  But it's not as if a vagina is a sterile environment.......so.......whats a little "grit" sharing between lovers?  Angel
