One of the worst chick tracts ever
#31
RE: One of the worst chick tracts ever
It's not like Jesus is keeping track of how often this hypothetical molester relapses though. As long as he gets back on the horse, so to speak, and knuckles down and tries to keep his hands off of, and dick out of the kid, he's Saved.

Physically separating the offender from his potential (future) victim, like arrest, trial, and lengthy incarceration would accomplish, is merely a series of actions, and as such, all those actions would garner no merit at the judgment. It comes down to accepting Jesus, not actions. And there's no small print, terms and/or conditions, or even asterisks on the offer.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

And what exactly do you think the chances of a pedophile to stop raping a child just because they read a Chick tract?  Probably about the same for a devout Catholic or Muslim to convert to fundamentalist Protestantism just because they read a Chick tract.  Or a gay person to become straight just because they read one.

Whether or not you think it's possible isn't the issue, the issue is that somehow you guys came to the conclusion that the 'Lisa' tract is offensive based on nothing...

The point of the tracts is to persuade people to repent (which means turn away from) of what they are doing and believe on Jesus Christ, he's not just telling stories for the sake of telling stories, they usually involve different subjects that may relate to a situation that someone is in.

That being said, what if a person that is actively abusing a child reads the "Lisa" tract and it causes him to stop what he's doing and seek help? That's a good thing, right?

That's the whole idea behind the tracts... that just maybe somewhere, one can change someones life.

I may not agree with Jack chick on everything but I see what he was trying to accomplish.

Fuck superficial change. Anyone can become "born again" just by praying a few words and feeling good about it for a while. But so what? Where's the accountability? The apology to the child? The acknowledgement that their child is still hurt by what they did to her? The guarantee that it will never happen to her ever again? This is a dangerous tract because it sends a very dangerous message to predators that all they need to do to "fix" this is pray to Jesus and be "saved". Fuck that. The message instead should be to take accountability and send oneself to prison willingly if they are truly sorry about having molested their child (but it is doubtful that they would be sorry enough to ever do that).

If i were you id stop commenting on this post clearly you really don't get it.
The whole point i was bring up about this 2 sexual predators gets away with a crime a young girl gets hurt mentally
and physically. The 3 people get away with child abuse and they get "saved" by praying the chances of that happening in reality
is so small even if  the chick tract causes something to stop touching little kids it doesn't change the fact they did a crime and a hurt a child.
There is no defending christianity either on this because well the bible does have pedophilia in and it sure as hell doesn't say anything against it.

"Offensive" ??

I noted it was Biblical.  I didn't see any heresy in it.

So you don't think the idea of a doctor failing to report the rape of a child to authorities and instead preaching to the perpetrator about his religion so the rapist feels better about himself is offensive?  Then sending them on their way and covering up a crime based upon nothing more than, "Oh, now I see how wrong I was.  I promise I won't rape her any more?"  That idea is totally reprehensible, and is the reason Chick pulled that particular tract from his lineup. Not to mention the further reprehensible behavior noted in the story of the neighbor blackmailing the rapist so he can join in, too, and letting the wife off the hook from her physical abuse of the child because now she promises that she really, really, loves Jesus now, too. So I guess Lisa has to live the rest of her life with herpes and psychological trauma, which likely result in drug addiction and dysfunctional relationships in real life, all because her parents "found Jesus" but aren't repentant enough to not sweep everything under the rug.

My favorite is the one with the little kid saying "I AM GOD" with a crazy-eyes face. Let me see if I can find it.

EDIT: My quote was a bit off, still funny though.

This guy utterly destroys his daughter, mentally and physically, and gets away with it because he's "saved" now, and you call this nothing?  She is depicted as a pre-pubescent child . . . she probably has internal injury.  On top of the horror of multiple gang-rape before the age of 10, where the primary torturer was her FATHER, she has no where else to turn.  Because her Mother is abusing her as well.  It would take years of careful, gentle family therapy with the Mother to repair that relationship, and years of therapy to work through her horror, pain, and betrayal of the rapes.  No amount of therapy could ever justify putting her in the same room with her monster father again.  And you say this is nothing???  Just how huge of an amoral asshole are you?
