Christian girls, especially the really uptight ones, are like dams waiting to burst. Nom, nom, splash, splash!

I had a roommate once with ah, benefits. I was definitely not alone in sharing those benefits. If there's one thing that would get me to consider a theist's point of view is that I never suffered any consequences for partaking. She definitely enjoyed her horizontal time. But she spoke often and with much conviction about "The Lord" and how important it was in her life. We just agreed to disagree on this point and it was a lovely relationship. I never pointed out the cognitive dissonance because I enjoyed the benefits and didn't want to lose them.

This was in Key West, Florida which exists in an alternate plane of reality. Not a typical experience.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Should I post the "Fuck me in the ass because I love Jesus" video?

Never been a problem.  Dated catholics mostly, in teens/early adulthood, owing to where I'm from..and then going from there to bavaria, lol.  Couple ridiculous pagan types (those irritated me the most...but I don't know that it was their religion..so much as they were annoying which made their beliefs seem twice as annoying "ring that bell one more motherfucking time and I swear to christ I'll stab you with that knife!").  A muslim...meeting those parents didn't go well.

Married a super woo-ey atheist the first go round, after all the trial and error above.  An evangelical the second go round.  10 years, this year, iirc, we've been married. She believes what she believes, I don;t believe what she believes...it starts and stops there.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

(October 29, 2016 at 8:25 pm)Cecelia Wrote: My husband was religious when we first started dating--then again, so was I.  He was pretty uneasy about things like sex, and cursing.  I remember we used to tease him by getting him to say dirty words that he didn't know were dirty like menage a trois.  (I wasn't as religious as him).  For a while he even thought it was a sin to LIVE TOGETHER.  Like in the same house.  But we did move in together, and I got him to loosen up a lot.  He's an intelligent guy, but he was raised to believe that way.

Eventually both of us started having our doubts.  Mine were much stronger than his--so I became an Atheist first.  When I told him, he was pretty okay with it.  I think that was the first step for him toward Atheism.  When I became an atheist--because he knows me so intimately and knows that I'm a good person, he was able to accept that Atheism doesn't make you a bad person.  He never tried to pressure me into believing in god again (we never went to church in the first place anyway).  His views on god evolved, and he eventually believed... well in humanism with God attached.  That's the best way to describe it.  "God just wants you to treat people right."

Now he's an atheist just like me.  One day he told me "I had been praying to God to ask him to show me a sign--any kind of sign.  Then I realized--I've just been talking to myself."  And we're much happier for it.

Fucking awesome post.

Have a taste of compassion from the platonically loving dessert of my platonic heart.

Hope you are well [emoji106]
