On a side not, you're starting to give the experience of baiting/trolling. Why don't you present your own views in that thread spree you're on instead of just posting oneliner questions.

Apart from that, it's got nothing to do with that. As I said in a different thread. I met the wisest people amongst the least educated (intelligent?) people and I met the most despicable amongst the highly educated (intelligent?) people. Not mutual exclusive and interchangeable.

He just admitted in another thread to subscribe to 9/11 truthers. So everything's possible at this point.

No, it doesn't.

In a way everything is information. A piece of rock is shifted by a river. From looking at the rock I can tell that the rock is washed down from up stream. So the position of the rock held information that I was able to interpret. No creature had any hand in the movement of the rock. You see your statement depends on your definition of information.

So what is your position on Erratics?

Information.... what is information?

Does a piece of substance have information on gravity?

Does an atom or a molecule have information on electric fields?

Do molecules have information on how to assemble themselves?

Does a particular sequence of molecules have information on how to assemble other molecules?

Information: what is conveyed or represented by a particular arrangement or sequence of things.

There are many different usages of the concept of information, from data, knowledge to a way of understanding physical systems. Information theory came out of our understanding of thermodynamics for example.

Quote:At its most fundamental, information is any propagation of cause and effect within a system.

You need to specify what definition of information you are using before we can say whether it only arises from intelligence. Otherwise you are relying on equivocation.

But for myself, I see information as a mere concept that allows us to reason about the world in the same way that we do with Maths, Logic and Language.

Or perhaps we're supposed to guess his hypothesis and then support our rejection of it?  What a labor saving approach.
