RE: Substance Abuse Recovery Thread
... and address whatever issues exist that make you feel intoxication is an adequate response to reality -- until I did that, all the quitting talk was just that: talk.

I spent years thinking that reality was for people who can't handle drugs. Worked for a lot of years, but eventually stopped.

But my doc called right after and said my kidney function was so bad I needed to start dialysis immediately. Being in the hospital is the real shitty part, especially because I had to be admitted through the ER. Fuck the ER. They put me in a different hallway every once and a while for 12 hours before I finally got a room haha

OK, well good and bad. Yep, ER sucks for non ER shit.

Do you have a dialysis center available, separate from the hospital? Have they talked about a schedule yet?

They're working on.it. apparently it's more complicated than I anticipated. I won't be out of here until.March, the earliest. I'm going insane

Holy shit. When it rains, huh. Hang in there. Keep us updated!

Play grab ass with the nurses. That should help take your mind off things.

Oh yes, family and friends have kept me company, thankfully. What's bugging me the most is that it's currently 60 degrees in February (which, in NY, is practically unheard of) but I can't enjoy it! I feel.so cooped up. Also, get this: I can't shower with the catheter in my chest! I'm getting more antsy and more disgusting by the day!

Good, I hope. Been thinking about yall.

I've got 84 days sober now. So I succeeded at that. But I totally failed at staying an atheist.

I'm tempted to make snarky comments about my own credulity in getting religion, but I'm a theist now. And I guess I've got to commit to that. Which is weird.

Oh well. I'll still celebrate atheist holidays (well I would if there were any) and read Sean Carroll's blog religiously. Ha ha...yeah.

Guess I'll go pray or something!
