you can keep heaven

For sure! It's a question that is rarely addressed at all, too. What is the point of any of this? How bored does this God character have to be to play Sim Humans? Imagine how many other ways it could entertain itself. This is the best it could come up with? If it was meant to be for our benefit then he royally fucked up.

And that's the thing. That's exactly what the Christian god is/doing.

There can only be a tiny handful of faiths that actually have it right, which means they must be so similar as to be indistinguishable. And that can only happen by sheer dumb luck; born in the right place at the right time. And speaking of that, are there any Christian sects that exist now that are exactly like they were at their inception? It's important because 1) they've all changed so much over time, that whomever was going to be saved was saved when the particular sect was hitting on all cylinders; or 2) only recently did they get it right, which means that all those who practiced faithfully have been shit out of luck for millennia.

Then there's #3, which sews up this fiery bullshit appropriately enough: if you've never heard of Christianity, or if you die as a child, it's largely agreed that you get a free pass to eternity. And that brings us back around to this: God is incredibly cruel for ever revealing Himself to anyone, because if he hadn't no one would ever have gone to Hell.

So it's only logical that if one believes in the Christian god, then their most noble course of action would be to ensure their children never heard of God, or, kill them when they're really young, thereby guaranteeing them a place in Heaven. If that sounds violent and perverse, well, that's what actually thinking about Christian doctrine leads to.

Funny you should say that, I made a thread some time ago about how abortion is the most loving thing you can do. Your kid gets an instant free pass and doesn't have to endure any of this pointless, hurtful life before getting there either. Watching theists tie themselves in knots trying to refute this was painful. I'll try and dig it up.

Great minds and all that.

I read your post, but not the rest of the thread, but did anyone point out that abortion doctors have probably aided in saving more souls than all the priests and preachers ever born combined? This of course, assuming what most of Christianity has proffered forth as divine truth.

And those "lives" that women's bodies often spontaneously auto-abort? It makes wonder, what do blastocysts look like in Heaven?
