I think the Church cant reedem itself after all the damage it has done to humanity. Torturing and murder would not be enough to make them paid for what they have done. But if you had the power to command an army to attack the Church/Vatican would you do it? Would you like to see their blood spilled on the floor? Or would you brutally tax them?

The violent part within me would do this: Murder every cardinal of the Vatican, including the Pope. Destroy every church and crucify its priest upside down. Then, build a momument of shame with the name of every priest who has worked in that church.

What about you? Let the rage flow through your veins.

Since you mentioned the Vatican.

I probably could, for the right monetary incentive.

If I was the president of a country I would attack them smartly. Secular state, get rid of religion in schools and highschools. Tax them to the point having a Church is not profitable. And no religious political parties.

But common, we all want to see the Church pay one way or another.

I think it would be real sad if the Church never pays for its crimes. What kind of history will we leave behind? One full of shame.

To me that sounds like, "Would you violently attack lack of education?"

I believe that religion thrives on suffering, poverty, diseases, and stupidity. The more you inflict such "banes" onto humanity, the more religion will grow in power. Even if you could destroy every trace of Catholicism or even Christianity itself, some other religion would spring up, no better than the ones before.

The only way to destroy religion is to bring an end to suffering, poverty, disease, and stupidity - this way, people will no longer need a god.

So, even if I had the greatest army, I wouldn't attack any Church by violence, because I don't want to make it grow - especially after I'm gone:
  • Look at the communists, they used aggression to suppress religion, and now, after communism is gone, religion grew very powerful in those areas. And the religious never forget to portray themselves as suppressed and martyrs whenever they grab more power and impose themselves on the others, for any limit or criticism is a "grim reminder" of communism.

  • Also consider the first centuries of christianity: they grew in number as persecutions increased. The victims became "innocent, pure martyrs dying for noble values" while the persecutors were "vile, servants of the devil." If the pagan romans had left them to exercise their religion freely I believe that christianity would have not become now the greatest religion on earth.

Frankly I'd do nothing to the church and just let it wither on the vine like it's already doing.  About all I'd do is strengthen the wall of separation between church and state so that religion is totally kept out of government, and rescind tax exemptions from any church preaching politics at the pulpit.

With violence, no. Although I would love to see the demise of organized religion and their respective institutions.
